Meet Bryan Hoffman of Phoenix Integrative Medical Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Hoffman.

Bryan Hoffman

Hi Bryan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since my father was a physician, I have been around medicine my whole life and have always been fascinated with the human body. As a child, I use to go to the hospital with my father while he was rounding on patients, and it was a way for me to bond with my father and be exposed to medicine at a young age. After finishing my schooling, I followed in his footsteps and joined his general practice. In the practice, I noticed that we needed to focus more on prevention and that patients were not improving by just prescribing medication alone.

Additionally, I started to experience my own health issues and felt that the conventional approach to medicine was not solving my own health issues. That is when I started to learn, focus and apply the integrative approaches of lifestyle, diet and nutrition, proper sleep, stress reduction, and nutrient support to address the underlying imbalances that exist in the human body.

With the integrative approach, I have incorporated both the medical management of the disease with the lifestyle factors necessary to return to wellness.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To say the least, it has not been the smoothest road. Firstly, I spent over 3 years learning the techniques and approach to address the lifestyle factors that contribute to disease. In that timeframe, I became dual certified in Integrative Medicine and Functional Medicine, the former in record time for certification. When I was not working or spending time with my family, I spent every waking moment to absorb as much information as possible, whether it was through instructional lectures, podcasts, webinars, or medical education consults. I had to arm myself with the knowledge to pass on to my patients.

As soon as I was certified and ready to forge this new path in medicine, I decided to open up a new practice in Integrative Medicine, then the COVID pandemic hit, and the office doors were shuttered. I realized that I have not been the only person affected by the pandemic, but to start a new practice in the time of the pandemic was definitely a big challenge.

As we embark on this new practice, we hope to provide personalized and comprehensive care to the patients that flock to the practice.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Providing Integrative and Functional Medicine by identifying and addressing the root cause of disease and the individual underlying imbalances that are unique to each individual. We incorporate medical management with the modifiable lifestyle factors of diet/nutrition, sleep, exercise, stress reduction, and relationships to address the unique characteristics of each individual patient.

Some of the common conditions treated at the office include autoimmune conditions, digestive issues, women’s and men’s health, including hormone balancing and health optimization.

What do you think about happiness?
Being with family and spending time with my children are what make me the happiest, and having a good work-life balance so that I can spend my energy in the right places. Seeing my patients improve by identifying and addressing the imbalances and making the necessary recommendations to support them.
