Today we’d like to introduce you to Calabrea Rhodes.
Hi Calabrea, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started doing makeup on myself when I was younger. I knew I was meant for the beauty industry once I fell in love with makeup. I would start practicing on my mom and younger sister back in 2016. I would get told all the time by friends and family that my own makeup was flawless, and to start pursuing being an artist. I recently took the leap of faith during the pandemic by taking a class with an MUA here in Arlington, TX. I’m now a self-taught makeup artist!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a slow start especially being in a pandemic. With me already pursuing a career in nursing I had some doubts on being able to juggle the two careers. Since I’m currently working in the ICU in downtown Fort Worth.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m now a self-taught makeup artist! I’m wanting to expand my brand and gain more clientele. I specialize in natural soft glam. I’m most proud of me taking the leap of faith and believing in myself. What makes me different from other artists is that I make a connection with my clients and put genuine time into my craft. Some artists do it for the money, where I’m in it for enhancing women features. Making them feel beautiful is my goal. I’m always learning and making sure I’m staying up to date with the latest makeup trends. I’m also investing in the best products and continuing education for makeup.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
You can do anything you put your mind to, as my mother would always say. With God, and the support I have I never stop going. I’ve always been known for my hustle and ambition. But remaining humble and keeping faith. Feel free to check me out on Instagram calapressure, and my makeup page is fabfacesbycala. Let’s get this bag!
