Today we’d like to introduce you to Camelia Cooper.
Camelia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I became interested in dentistry while visiting my parent’s during a college break.
Looking back at old photos of my mom, I noticed her teeth were very discolored and that more often than not she did not smile in pictures. She stated it was due to bad chemicals in our town’s drinking water, and that her teeth really made an impact on her self-confidence. She experienced several painful appointments that did little to nothing to change the shade of her teeth, and in the process, she became very fearful and dreaded dental appointments altogether.
From that moment, I knew I wanted to become a dentist and help people because it a smile is worth more than you can ever put a price on. I started my own practice, Sweet Tooth Dental Loft, with not just my mom’s past dental experiences and fears in mind but patients similar to her as well. I noticed most people eat on the go, and don’t always make smart food and drink choices. In return, they become diagnosed with cavities and then avoid coming to the receive proper treatment. Here at Sweet Tooth Dental Loft, we understand that our cravings don’t all center on broccoli and carrot sticks. We all enjoy dessert and juice and dare I say it… candy from time to time.
Our mission is to teach you different ways to satisfy your sweet tooth. It doesn’t have to come from eating an entire tub of ice cream, or drinking juices that contain less than 10% real fruit or having a candy bar that contains a caloric count equivalent to a full day of meals. We want to show you options for low-sugar snacks, healthy fruit juices, and even some sugar-free candy. Don’t worry, if you do indulge in “the real thing” we’ll educate you on how to care for your teeth afterwards. Sweet Tooth Dental Loft is dedicated to applicable choices and techniques that work for our patient’s lifestyles.
We have put time and energy into creating an environment that makes you glad you came to the dentist. Our lobby features not just an iPad bar, but free Wi-Fi for our patients and their families that are waiting, as well as a Keurig coffee maker for hot drinks, and complimentary bottled water. We have televisions on the ceiling with connected headphones to drown out any loud noises, blankets, massage chairs… basically everything you need to not be anxious about your next dental appointment. Taking care of your teeth can be fun and energetic. It doesn’t have to be dreaded nor is there a need for the vibe to feel sterile. I strongly believe you can be relaxed at the dental office. I’m blessed to have the ability to restore confidence with new, healthy smiles, and I cherish the day I able to restore my mom’s.
Has it been a smooth road?
Road has been a lot of hard work. Studying to become a dentist, overcoming the financial process of starting a business from scratch have all been challenging. I am grateful to have had solid family support and treat patients to help make the process worthwhile.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Sweet Tooth Dental Loft – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Sweet Tooth Dental Loft is a general dentistry practice. We see both children and adults, and our procedures range from routine cleanings to veneers and implant restorations. What sets us apart is our approach. We interact with patients the way we would interact with each other, and as a result, they leave feeling like our new best friend!
We have branded ourselves as a colorful, upbeat, atypical space and I believe it has shifted the mindset of our patients. We are known as the cheery dental office with the big purple doors. I love it when patients leave pleasantly surprised at their experience.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love the Frisco suburb for its growth and its education. The school districts are great, the adults are highly educated, and there is always something for entertainment in driving distance. I am hoping overcrowding and traffic do not become the items I like least about the city, but with growth comes adjustment.
