Meet Cameron Sather

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Sather.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I went through a couple years of band and a year of snare line in my schooling then ended up self-teaching drum kit based off what I had previously learned. In 2015 I started taking my music career more seriously (content production, gigging, etc.) and also found a passion for videography. From there, I worked extremely hard to build my network and career to the point where I switched over to full time music/video in late 2017. Since then, I’ve traveled all over the US as well as a bit of Mexico, toured and played Whiskey a’ Go Go alongside the Trailer Park boys, produced some viral videos, and played countless gigs. Coming up I have a month-long Canada tour in July followed by a month-long North America tour in September!

Please tell us about your art.
My main passion is creating drums for people’s music. I always aim for making songs feel good with my drumming underneath. I draw inspiration from all the different instrumental and vocal ideas in tracks; they feed me ideas that I would never have myself and allow me to embellish on them.

Outside of music, I produce videos mainly for the music market around DFW. However, I’ve also done some work in the fashion, dance, and business promo markets. The goal is to get people high quality productions for prices that are still reasonable to musicians and other artists. I just enjoy helping people capture their art in the form of a video.

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
In general, just be a nice and proactive person. People will respond positively to that and it’ll help your network. Also, take breaks from your art periodically so you don’t burn out as often. I wish I had learned how to pace myself a little sooner. Lastly, don’t try and go it alone. There are so many amazing artists around to draw inspiration and motivation from. You’ll progress much faster, and in ways you never imagined, when you surround yourself with people that are better than you.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
I gig all the time around Deep Ellum, Uptown, and most other areas in the DFW metroplex. I’m pretty good at keeping my Facebook and Instagram stories updated with dates/locations! As for video work, I always share my clients work on Facebook.
