Candy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We had always considered homeschooling my youngest child but once the time came for him to start school, we did not feel we were ready financially for me to leave me 9-5 job. My son started school and had a really rough year. That motivated me to start looking at options and that led me to the beauty industry. Both my sisters had been in the industry for years. I am proud to say I have been in business for myself with help and support from my family for almost three years and this is our third year of homeschooling as well.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Not at all! My previous job was for a construction company, I was there ten years. Leaving that comfort for the unknown was scary! I had no experience in the beauty industry whatsoever and started with zero clients. I had to build and gain trust with potential clients freshly out of training. I read a ton and reached out to many. Met wonderful supportive women and have made friendships with many. Growth has been slow but also steady. Most importantly, it was given me the opportunity to focus on my priorities. My family.
Please tell us about Frida Brow Studio.
We provide almost all services for brows and lashes. I specialize in Microblading and a few other semi-permanent makeup techniques like Kindness, respect, love is what we try to put out daily. I love all my clients. Everyone of them has helped me get here.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
There were few growing pains but overall, I don’t think I would change much. Every mistake has taught me something and has kept me grounded and humbled.
