Meet Cappie McBeth of Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cappie McBeth.

Cappie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today? I joined Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski in June of 2015 with many other members of my team from a prior jewelry company…I just couldn’t stand the thought of not doing life and business without them! I also fell in LOVE with the product. We truly are a “category of one” when it comes to fashion jewelry, as no one approximates our quality, due to being owned by Swarovski, the world’s foremost expert on crystal! As I began sharing the jewelry, the enthusiasm was overwhelming, and I quickly began building a team and making great strides! Coming from a CPA background, the direct sales industry was a complete mystery to me, so I became a true student of the industry. I try to learn something new every single day about my business, leadership, self-improvement, and all the other skill sets required to excel. About this time last year, I realized I was not going to grow without making a change, and certainly not sitting in front of my computer all day! I began networking all over Dallas, and huge changes followed. I have been introduced to relationship-building, networking skills that have almost doubled my business. More importantly, I have a new TRIBE of women who are not necessarily my customers, but they are certainly my mentors, my examples, and my cheerleaders. Dallas has an amazing culture of powerful women who are collaborative and inspirational! I have continued to grow personally and professionally by leaps and bounds.

Has it been a smooth road? No road to true growth is always smooth. My biggest struggle has been retaining quality people and growing other leaders. The nature of direct sales is such that many people enter without the level of commitment necessary to succeed. The fact that one frequently has to get many “nos” before getting to the “yes” is discouraging to most who think the business is going to be easy! It’s SIMPLE…but not necessarily EASY! I can train people to succeed, but I cannot motivate them to work hard!

So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski story. Tell us more about the business. Touchstone Crystal by Swarovski is the newest, fastest-growing division of the Swarovski group of companies. We have only been in business since 2011, and only active in Texas since 2015. We are still a relatively small company in the direct sales field, buy we are growing by leaps and bounds. This is primarily due to the exceptional quality of our product. All we have to do is get the jewelry in people’s hands for them to see the extraordinary quality and value! My passion for my personal business is to use it as much as possibly as a vehicle to give back. At least half of my parties are FUNdraisers for widely varying causes…whomever and whatever organizations need some financial support are all welcome at my table! I believe that to whom much has been given, much is required. This is a way I can give back at a much higher level.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade? I believe strongly that direct sales are here for the long run. People are changing the way they shop. They prefer not to go to stores when they can avoid it. That, of course, creates even more isolation, as people spend more and more time in front of their computers and televisions. That’s where the parties come in. I try to make my parties so much fun that women are reminded of how much they actually enjoy each other’s company in a private yet social atmosphere. No business allowed!!! At the end of EVERY party, women muse about why they aren’t doing this more often.
