Today we’d like to introduce you to Cardavion Willie.
Cardavion, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My name is Cardavion Willie. I am a Junior at the Illustrious Prairie View A&M University. I started selling mink eyelashes my sophomore year in college. I know people may wonder “why sell lashes?”, An old friend of mine, Keaera just inspired me to pursue that path in life. At first, I wasn’t sure whether I would be successful considering the business. I initially said I would only sell lashes to my female friends, kind of testing the market out with different sampled styles in hope my product/ business would draw more business. Eventually over time the feedback and popularity from my lashes started to grow bigger by the day which lead to me to create @yofavlashes.
Has it been a smooth road?
When starting your own business, you are going to experience trials and tribulations. That’s why it’s very important to make sure what ever you do you keep going. Trust me there’s going to be days you feel like everything you’ve done thus far has been a waste but you have to keep the bigger picture in mind and power through it. Some of the struggles that Ive faced during my journey has been low clientele. When everyone has a hussle going you almost think to yourself “why would they buy my lashes” , “what can i do to stand out from all the other entrepreneurs who are in the same field”. You just have to be yourself in everything you do! With that attempting to capture my select audience with a variety of styles, as you know that’s why some styles sell faster than others. New Styles are coming soon , thank you to the ones whose been patient with YoFav Lashes.
A piece of advice I would share to people that want to pursue their own business is to make sure that you have plan. Constructing a plan can and will turn your dreams into a reality. However it’s up its up to you to see your plan come true.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the YoFav Lashes story. Tell us more about the business.
YoFav Lashes is a black-owned business. I am known for my 25mm mink eyelashes and 5D eyelashes. What makes me proud about “YoFav Lashes” is when I get lots of support from different people not just friends and family but from strangers too. It also makes me feel good when I see other people wearing “YoFav Lashes.” Just to see that my lashes are making everyone feel beautiful is an amazing thing to witness. What makes me different from the others is my lashes can be worn up to 25 times with the proper care. Also, my logo and the lash box is custom made.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Over the next decade YoFav Lashes plans on expanding to several store front locations in major cities. Also adding more glamorous eye products to our business in hopes of reaching a bigger audience. Who knows if you might see Beyoncé wearing a pair of YoFav Lashes in Spain.
