Today we’d like to introduce you to Carla Troncoso.
Carla, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my yoga practice in May 2014. The instructors and the classes helped me find my zen after long hours at my multiple bakery jobs. They inspired me so much that I decided to complete the 200 hour yoga intensive program in January 2015 and became a full time yoga instructor. When I was working at a larger yoga studio, I would love to have moms to be in my classes. I was drawn to them and wanted to make sure they felt capable of doing what everyone else was doing while adjusting to their growing belly. Over the years, I searched for prenatal yoga certification programs in the area with no luck. I wanted to help my Mamacitas further, but in March of 2019, I finally found a yoga and health retreat center in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
I was extremely happy to get home and work with my mommys to be. I leaped faith in September 2019 and decided that I wanted to go for my dream of starting my own business. Mamacita yoga was born and it keeps growing and growing every day.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Much like a lot of small businesses, the hardest obstacle at the beginning is spreading the word and getting in front of your ideal clientele. With the support and connections I have with family and friends, I’ve been able to grow so much, but right now, the hardest obstacle is what is happening with the Coronavirus. All of the yoga /dance studios I teach my Mamacitas are closed. I am still available to teach privates! I will come to your home with all the tools to be able to teach you a class in the comfort of your home. Being at the early stages of my business was already challenging but with the changes happening worldwide, it has made me think of creative ways to stay connected with my Mamacitas. I will do LIVES via Facebook and will keep my passion of helping Mamacitas alive in different ways.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
At Mamacita Yoga, I provide a space where moms can explore their strength, learn intentional breathing, and start to create a bond with the little human growing inside. I am a certified prenatal yoga instructor and my business focuses on teaching yoga to mother t be. I also offer mommy and baby classes and couples prenatal yoga classes. I love that I get to spoil them for an hour. They deserve it. They are already going through so much change emotionally and physically. I am most proud of being able to help my Mamacitas to find some relief and ease aches and pains that may come with pregnancy.
I am a traveling yogi that rents spaces to teach my classes once a week, but my goal is to have space where I call home eventually. For now, follow my page because this is where I post the location and time of the classes that I offer once a week.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I will feel like I have succeeded if I can build a community of Mamacitas. The markers I am looking for would be to have my own studio where I can build this community.
