Today we’d like to introduce you to Carley Heilaneh.
Carley, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was bartending years ago… when I found out I got pregnant with my daughter, I knew I had to pick up a career… I always had my esthetics license I just never put it to use. I always did little things on the side like chemical peels, friends makeup… but I wanted to start taking it more serious so I saw a lash place hiring & they teach you how to do lashes on-site so I applied & got the job & from there, it’s been nothing but lashes for the last four years. I’ve been perfecting my craft & I love it so much!!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not always. Of course, while learning & perfecting you will have ur moments of it not turning out how the client likes. You just have to work through it & get good. It is an ongoing repetition. I met a woman that really helped my career & my skill set… she was this Vietnamese lady & they realllllly push you. I needed that push. I tried every day to make a perfect volume fan. EVERYDAY. It was so hard & my back would kill me from how long I would sit behind the bed making fan after fan… after a year & a half, I can do a mega volume set with fluffy fans in about an hour & 15 mins to an hour 30. With my retention extending about three weeks per client fill!
What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of? What sets you apart from others?
I am a medically certified esthetician. But I specialize in lash extensions. I’m proud that I learned this skill & I specialize in layering, a technique that most lash technicians don’t use & I would love to teach it eventually because the retention & fullness I’m able to achieve in my years has been the easiest & quickest way for me.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I’m looking forward to expanding my skill set. I took on microblading at a salon I was at prior. Self-taught. However, I would love to attend a school to better learn that craft. Until then, I will continue to grow my client for lashes!
