Today we’d like to introduce you to Carly Moreno and Ericka Eidson.
Carly and Ericka, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We (Carly and Ericka) were coworkers at a university in Dallas, planning recruiting events together. In 2019, a coworker asked us if we could help them plan their wedding since they saw how well we did at coordinating and executing large events. Through that experience, we saw an opportunity to do something that we truly loved and had studied- wedding planning. What started as a not-so-serious text of “I think if we started a wedding planning company, we could call it Jane Ann Weddings” blossomed into an actual small business.
While we had a ton of experience in large corporate events, we both wanted to branch out and do more social events- specifically weddings. The joy we get from being a part of the biggest day of a couple’s life is unexplainable. It is truly the most gratifying feeling when you leave a wedding at midnight, sore feet, hoarse voice, and all. Someone once said, “if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.” That is exactly how we feel about our small wedding planning company. Meeting new people, organizing tiny details, and creating beautiful & meaningful moments truly feels like a pastime.
Navigating a worldwide pandemic has been very difficult for our clients and us, yet we have preserved and grown so much in 2020. While this is not what we imagined for our first year, we are grateful for the growth it has brought. We look forward to partnering with couples in the future in making their day the very best day ever!
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting Jane Ann Weddings and growing our business over the last year has been more challenging than we thought. We both have full-time jobs that we are managing while trying to start up our small business. While we gained many clients over the year, we have yet to really dive into wedding planning full time.
With that, 2019-2020 has been a whirlwind of a year for Jane Ann Weddings. Not only were we new to the scene, but we were managing full-time jobs, Ericka is a full-time student, Carly got pregnant and had a baby, and let’s not forget there was/still is a pandemic! It’s been challenging to pursue our dream of planning weddings, but we are fighting for that dream no matter the cost! This means sacrificing any free time we have to working with clients and recruiting brides. It is well worth the challenge! Plus, we don’t shy away from the hard stuff. We embrace it!

Our favorite thing about Dallas is that there are so many incredible venues and vendors to work with. With that, we get to meet incredible people who have the same passion that we do. And, let’s be honest here, we least like the traffic and parking! That’s why we love recommending venues in the rural areas of DFW!
