Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmeshia Motes.
Carmeshia, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born in Killeen, Texas mainly raised in Navasota, Texas but graduated High School in Philadelphia, New York at Indian River High School in 2009. My mother and father both served in the Army so I guess you can say I’m a military brat. After High School, I wanted to return to Texas and decided to go to Huston-Tillitson University One of ten Historically Black colleges and universities in the state of Texas (HBCU). Where I graduated with my Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with a concentration in Marketing in 2013.
A month after graduation I started my sales career at Dell’s corporate office in Round Rock, Texas. After two years I decided to move to Dallas, Texas and go into the Product Safety business. I also went back to school and obtained my MPM- Masters of Product Management where I graduated from Keller School of Management in 2017. I have now been working in Product Safety as a Technical Account Manager for almost five years. I love my job I have the ability to travel and see new technology before it hits the market.
Has it been a smooth road?
It defiantly has not been a smooth road. I was laid off from Dell after working there for only two years. That was my first corporate job after college so I had no idea what I was going to do, but by the grace of God, I was offered a position in Dallas. And that layoff turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me. I started making six figures at age 26 and bought my first home at age 28. Moving to Dallas, Hard Work and obtaining my Master’s Degree made that happened.
