Today we’d like to introduce you to Caroline Eaves.
Caroline, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always loved taking pictures. Anytime there was a chance to document my family, I would grab my camera and start snapping. Photographs are so special to me- they freeze precious memories in time. When you look at a picture, it can take you right back to where you were and what you were experiencing. So what started as a simple hobby with my family grew into a business in 2016. I started photographing family and friends and soon created a website and a Facebook page. Today, I have the joy of capturing families as new life enters the world and families wanting to stop time and remember each precious stage which is something I particularly love as a fairly new mom myself. I also capture sweet couples as they embark on a new journey in marriage.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been easy. I have learned so much about the business aspect of photography and creating an experience for my clients. I have also grown in my craft learning from other amazing photographers and taking classes. There were many times I wanted to give up because I was not reaching my growth goals and comparing my business to others. One thing I have learned is to celebrate who I am and my successes and not compare myself to others. Finding your voice is really important in this field and staying true to the art you create.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a natural light photographer that focuses on documenting families as they are. I love capturing what makes each family or couple unique. My greatest joy is when clients walk away saying, “that was so much fun” or “wow you captured us perfectly”. I think a lot of the magic happens in the imperfect moments in between directing. I am most proud of the growth I have made as a photographer and my ability to capture families with multiple young children. What sets me apart is my ability to connect with families with young children because I get it as a mom of a three-year-old. Things are never going to go perfectly at a shoot and helping families let go of expectations helps everyone relax and enjoy each other which ultimately translates into their photographs. My job is to help everyone relax, have fun, play and enjoy each other.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes! I love Dallas and the DFW area. There are so many fun areas to enjoy and photograph people in different environments. For someone just starting out this is a great place to connect with other local photographers to learn and grow. There are so many different avenues within photography you can take in a city like this.
