I studied marketing in college and started my career in management consulting. I loved writing and working with people but found myself craving more creative latitude, so I enrolled in a design certificate program at Parsons New School of Design and studied online after work.

It’s been fun to see the strategic and design elements of my background play such an important role in my business today. I wanted a change of pace after getting married and decided to get my real estate license. Comfort Is Created started after I took on the role of stager myself when I was hired to sell a vacant house. It sold very quickly, and after that, my realtor colleagues started asking if I could stage their clients’ houses.

Since starting my staging business late last year, I’ve had the opportunity to work on a number of beautiful homes across the DFW Metroplex. I’ve done staging (when I bring in all the furniture), styling (when I work with furniture that’s already there), and curating (when I work with local artists to design homes and select furniture based on the art they contribute). I’ll write about these projects on my blog, and about living in Fort Worth and some of my favorite spots around town. It’s all the things I love wrapped into one job, and I’m so grateful to get to do it every day!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my favorite quotes is, “Life is tough, my darling, but so are you.” Life is definitely not a smooth road, and unfortunately, there are people out there who will try to take advantage of you. Navigating those situations has helped me understand my worth and taught me how to communicate the value I provide. I’ve found that when I am confident in myself (and, of course, deliver on my promises), my clients are confident putting their trust in me.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Comfort Is Created?
Our approach is equally focused on strategy, design, and psychology. We understand property value and ROI, light fixtures and floor plans, and, perhaps most importantly, what buyers think about them all. We care deeply about the people we work with – ultimately, we want whatever is best for them, and we are willing to get creative to help them achieve it.

What makes you happy?
Flowers! I grow a cut flower garden in our backyard and find great joy taking care of them so they can bloom year after year. I love that every flower is unique and that different varieties bloom in different seasons (like humans). Plus, fresh flowers have the ability to liven up a room like nothing else can.
