Meet Casa De Reyes Tequila

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casa De Reyes Tequila.

Casa De Reyes Tequila, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The idea of starting Casa De Reyes Tequila began at a weekly Friday happy hour. Two of the three owners, Monroe and Flex, made it a tradition to go to happy hour every Friday and try different tequilas. After a few years of that routine, the idea was born to create their own tequila. At the time, the third owner Dekoda was preparing to retire from the NFL and was presented with the idea of joining. At first, he wasn’t sold since he didn’t enjoy drinking. But after hearing more details, decided that starting a tequila company might not be a bad second career. From there, the black-owned tequila brand Casa De Reyes translated “House of the Kings” was born and the creation process was started. A few trips to Jalisco, MX and months settling on a final bottle design lead to 2.5 years later when Casa De Reyes imported our first pallet into the United States in August 2022. The brand is steeped in enhancing the drinking experience by providing a premium tequila at a mid-level price and embracing the king chess piece as a symbol for house of the kings.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The first challenge was the overinflated costs of shipping that had to be incurred to get the custom bottles shipped from China. Then there was the delay in getting those bottles cleared into Mexico followed by the delay in bottling due to issues with raw material providers. It didn’t stop there though, as even importing into the United States was delayed because of logistical impediments. Once on U.S. soil though, the we have been marketing through social media and in-person visits in hopes of getting liquid to lips. Currently, Casa De Reyes is facing one of its biggest impediments, which is getting a distributor in Texas. We have been using all avenues available to e-mail, call, and contact distributors with no avail. In fact, we have found it easier to engage with distribution companies outside of our home base of Texas and are currently working on deals in other states. The hope is to have the brand in some markets by Q1 of 2023.

The Mission of Casa De Reyes:

When you step into the House of the Kings you are instantly drawn to the aura of excellence, regality, and most importantly, royalty. Strategic moves are the key to winning any chess game. Kings can move one space in any direction, ultimately overcoming opponent roadblocks and checkmating.

Our goal is to be an example of Black Excellence by delivering a product that brings people together to have elevating conversations that lead to memorable experiences.
