Meet Casey & Meg Lebus of Fort Weekend

Today we’d like to introduce you to Casey & Meg Lebus.

Hi Casey & Meg, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
The idea for Fort Weekend came about during Covid. We wanted to find a way to continue to bring families together for quality time, including family movie nights, cousin slumber parties, and small get-togethers. We recognized a need for children’s sleeping bags and other children’s products that are both beautifully designed and functional for the busy family.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As working mothers, we are continuing to learn to balance life between raising babies and starting a new business. Because we built this product from the ground up, we have had to navigate all facets of the process from initial design creation to manufacturing and distribution logistics.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Fort Weekend specializes in bringing unique children’s products to the market that are beautifully designed, comfortable, and functional for the busy family. We aim to bring you products that feel good, work well, and have a playful spirit. Our first product we have brought to the market is children’s sleeping bags.

Each of our sleeping bag designs is thoughtfully curated and hand-painted before being made into fabric that is washable, is easily carried by your little one, and is functional for your busy family. Ideal for the child up to 56 inches tall, this sleeping bag is easy to roll with a luxuriously soft interior that will have your kiddos ready for a fun night in!

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
We have learned the value of patience, managing expectations, and how to adapt quickly as logistics change. As working mothers, we have learned to feed each other’s kids, set up nap time arrangements at each other’s houses, and run carpool for each other to get the work finished.
