Meet Cassy Lawson of Lawson Event Rentals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassy Lawson.

Hi Cassy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started Lawson Event Rentals from the dust back in 2013. I had been working in the industry as a planner and realized the need for a different type of event rental company in the market. I created a business plan for a full scale rental company, but knew I had to start with one type of product in order to start strong. So we began with a product I knew we could sell to my clientel… the chiavari chair. I started with 500 gold chiavaris and 500 silver chiavaris.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
COVID was definitely the biggest hurdle we’ve had to overcome over the past 12 years, and I would guess that is what almost every company in the live event industry would say. The pandemic hit in March just as our industry was ramping up for the Spring busy season, and overnight on March 15th, we went from a full slate of events for the Spring to zero events. It was scary and wild.

As you know, we’re big fans of Lawson Event Rentals. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are an event rental company that provides hard rentals – tables, chairs, tabletop, linens, bars, dance floors, catering equipment, etc – for live events. We service mostly North Texas, but also travel to other cities in Texas and Oklahoma.
We specialize in boutique service. Although we have the inventory selection of a large scale rental company, we provide the service of a small boutique rental company. That’s one of the perks of being owner operated. We personally know our customers and their needs.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Many of our employees, in both our operations side and our sales side, have been with us for years, which allows us to know each other well and run like a family. When you have close relationships with your co-workers, it allows you to give grace when needed, but at the same time have hard conversations when needed. It really is a blessing. Lawson’s wouldn’t exist without this group of long-time employees.
