Today we’d like to introduce you to Cathy Mahoney.
Cathy, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I had a 28-year career in the trade show and meetings industry – a great position and a fantastic team, but one day I woke up and knew there was more to do. Over time, I had dreamt of having my own business and decided this was the time to figure it out. After months of discovery, I decided I was best suited to buy into a franchise. Scout & Molly’s spoke to me in many ways, some of which were that it was a fairly new franchise, high on empowering women, the founder is a strong woman and they supported to give back events in the community. These were all areas that I felt strongly about and that is how I decided on this franchise. Southlake is a thriving community and it made sense to me to position this boutique that caters to women and their experience – high customer service and lifestyle apparel and accessory options.
Has it been a smooth road?
Anything new comes with challenges or opportunities as I like to call them… telling the story to a huge community (Southlake plus all of the surrounding areas) continues to happen, but the best outcome has been always creating new customers – that didn’t know about us.

Scout & Molly’s Boutique is a women’s clothing boutique that is all about the experience! It is similar to “shopping in your best friend’s closet”! We pride ourselves in providing an exceptional customer experience, whether you in to buy a quick gift, an outfit for a special event or your seasonal wardrobe… we host trunk shows, give back shopping events and girls night out fun.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes, the in person shopping experience – more of a one on one scenario is important to individuals – and finding value in the experience and the items are too!
