Today we’d like to introduce you to Celli Nye and Hena Hajee.
Celli and Hena, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
As the saying goes “necessity is the mother of all inventions”, Hena, The Mother, had two toddlers that had The Need for matching embroidered shirts & Easter baskets. After purchasing hundreds of dollars worth of embroidery equipment and supplies, we had exactly 2 matching shirts and 2 Easter baskets! BUT… The Invention was created. Our first company was started 5 years ago (no embroidered items were available!) and as the demand for personalized shirts and novelty gifts sky-rocketed so did our business venture. Fast forward to 2018, we decided to take a leap of faith and open a storefront for the hundreds of crafting moms like us.
Hena & Celli met 13 years ago while working in the catering industry. After long hours on our feet and dealing with brides and chefs and holiday parties, our conversations always lead us to our dream of working for ourselves and loving our work. As our professional relationship grew, so did a personal relationship that has carried us through 5 years of all-night crafting sessions, craft fairs, fulfilling glittery orders and lots of coffee!
Now working on our third company, Frisco Craft Studio, we’re focused on providing supplies and convenience to local crafters. Because we were needing better quality vinyl and easy access to shirts and machinery, we knew that other people would need the same. We opened outdoors 5 weeks ago and the response has been incredible. We are so thrilled we’re able to offer a great product to help you make an awesome product.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road was smooth because we knew what we wanted to do, but the house was cramped because we didn’t realize what it would be like to live amongst 5,000 blank tee shirts, 50-yard rolls of vinyl in every color and mounds of glitter EVERYWHERE. We officed out of Hena’s house, which means we took over the entire 2nd floor… kids rooms, media room and any other “extra” space we could find. We were falling all over each other and the tension was always high!
