Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanel And Nicole Jones
Hi Chanel and Nicole, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Our father owned a snowball trailer at his flea market in Austin, TX for a few years but unfortunately due to a flood in his area he had to close his business and eventually sold the trailer. Snowballs has always been Chanel’s favorite and after several years we decided to take a leap and purchase a trailer. We were looking online and found the perfect trailer however we weren’t able to purchase it before it sold. Within a week we found our current snowball trailer so we immediately purchased it in July 2022 and started the buildout process to what is now known as Frosty Sisters Snowballs. In October of 2022 we had our grand opening and have been a growing our presence in the Forney community since.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No. Starting a business from scratch without the background took countless hours of learning, googling, and research. Since we have been open we have had struggles with hurdles of a start-up business such as funding, economic impact on sales, managing full time employment and starting a small business. In the beginning it was hard to find staff that we can trust to run the business when we were unable to be there. Last year we faced a lot of bad weather during the spring that caused us to close or have very low sales.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Frosty Sisters Snowballs is a family business owned by two sisters Chanel and Nicole Jones. We started the business in 2022. Chanel lives in the Forney area and loves snowballs. We thought it would be great to start a snowball business in the Forney area to carry out our father’s prior business ventures but also to provide a product that was scarce in the Forney area.
Frosty Sisters Snowballs specializes in shaved ice snowballs with a variety of flavors, toppings, and combinations. We have food options such as Nachos, Frito pies, and our popular quarter pound all beef hotdogs options ranging from our Windy City (Chicago Style) to The Fire Dog. Our top snack item is our Koolaid pickles.
We are known for our New Orleans Style snowballs that have fluffy ice and very flavorful syrups. I would say what sets us apart from others is our fluffiness of our ice. It’s soft and fluffy. That is the true difference between a snowcone and what we sell snowballs. We are most proud of the fact that we are still in business, most small business statistically do not make it through the first year. It hasn’t been easy by far but we are still surviving. We are also very proud of the community support that we receive and getting to know our customers and the support that provide by promoting us to their friends/family.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
We have had tremendous family support, from our parents, spouse, aunts, and sisters. We also have a great group of friends that have been with us along the way. The school districts in the area (Forney and Crandall) have utilized our service and we greatly appreciate their support. Our loyal employees that have been with us each season. Last but definitely not least is our loyal customers.
