Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanta’ Johnson.
Hi Chanta’, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started Taye Nails YouTube channel in December of 2020, I made a few nail tutorials videos. Three months later into 2021, I decided to put on hold starting my business for a year to focus on obtaining my master’s degree in Business and Organizational Security Management. After graduating, I started posting videos in January 2022. I have been consistent in posting my videos to my channel. Where I am today, is by God’s grace, family, and friends.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it has not been a smooth road as a self-taught nail artist on YouTube. Starting it can be tough gaining more subscribers on YouTube. I had to revamp my YouTube channel by using a different editing website, better lighting, and purchasing advance equipment for my videos. I have educated myself being a successful Youtuber.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a self-taught Nail Artist Youtuber. I am known for creating different designs on my nails. I have been a nail polish lover since I was a teenager. I am extremely proud of overcoming self-doubt, fear, and being camera shy. With God’s help in overcoming my insecurities, it has shaped me into who I am today, more confident that I can do anything with hard work and consistency. My dream seven (7) years ago, was to start a YouTube channel, to show the world my creativity. However, due to fear, I postponed starting my channel for several years. In December of 2019, I wrote down the goals, I wanted to achieve in the coming new year, one of my goals was to work toward starting my YouTube channel. What sets me apart from others, is I can take a simple design, recreate it, and make adjustments to the design(s) on my nails.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
The role of luck that’s played in my life is having a strong Grandmother and being reared in the church to learn to put God first in my life. Having faith in God helped me overcome any obstacle I experienced in this journey. Reading daily prayers, affirmations, and writing my goals kept me on track to achieving my goals.
