Today we’d like to introduce you to Chauncil Williams.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Chauncil. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started with an IT company. I got hired to be the marketing assistant for a small engendering team. After a year and a half, I ended up having 13 different roles within that company, so after much frustration and venting to a friend about my situation. I started looking for something that was more in line with the role I had originally applied for, which was a marketing job. Shortly after, I ended up getting a lead from that same friend who had another friend who started a utility company, that also happened to be a startup. They were looking for someone to help market them in the real estate sector and that’s how my sales career in the real estate market started.
From there, I transitioned into selling property and casualty insurance in a regional manager role. That was a huge step up for me in terms of reach, as it allowed me the ability to develop relationships all over the state in major markets. I quickly grew our market share by 35% in the first three months & then 50% by the end of my first six months. I was not only meeting but exceeding my monthly goals. But of course, it came at a price, I was constantly on the road driving back and forth between my markets and by the end of nine months the traveling job I was so excited about ten months ago, was no longer what I desired. Around that same time, I was approached by my companies sister company to come on board as their Dallas marketing specialist.
So I thanked God for answering my prayer and accepted the offer, with the most important factor being I was based in Dallas. Of course, I knew I would miss getting to visit all the new friends I’d made but I knew I would not miss being on the road. But what I didn’t anticipate was missing the action and relationship building interactions sales provided me. Right around the time, I was starting to second guess my move. My current boss approached me with an opportunity to fill a void in his sales force that he had not foreseen. That was the beginning of my working relationship with Lisa Almaguer, my Escrow Officer. We were not always the dynamic duo you see today. In fact, we actually budded heads quite a bit in the beginning so much, so I remember telling a friend if I had a choice “I would never choose to work with her,” which is funny now because I have eaten every single one of those words.
After a year and a half of maintaining and building business in the Dallas market with Lisa. I made the bittersweet decision to accept a Regional Marketing Manager position within our company, which, of course, meant I left my teammates without a sales rep but it also meant growth in my career. Just when I thought I had my dream job with the dream title with my dream company, God showed up to remind me that it was his will and not mine. After several stressful months within my “dream” job, I finally accepted the fact that the door was closing on this chapter of my life and career but I did not let that chapter close without a fight. As I embraced the reality of my situation, I gave it all to God and started walking through the open doors he had prepared for me. At that time, I had no idea I was about to embark on a three and half month tour of Europe, that would ultimately set the pace and be my muse for my next career move. After visiting the UK, South France, Amsterdam, Greece, and Spain. I never wanted to return back to the states. My eyes were opened to so many cultures and different ways of life. I knew my life going forward would never be the same and that I would no longer allow or tolerate the things I once did before.
Although I was applying to jobs all over the world except Dallas. God once again showed grace and prepared and opened the door for me to not only be introduced to Arbonne but to have a community of women ready & willing to embark on this journey with me. Kicking and literally screaming on the inside, I returned to Dallas to start my Health & Wellness business through Arbonne. God once again was preparing my path and I didn’t even know it. Which is exactly what happened when I met Kim Croft. She not only stayed in touch with me the whole time I was traveling but she also encouraged me to think big picture and develop my “WHY” for Arbonne. The best part is I’m able to take everything I’ve learned in my Regional Marketing Manager role and use that to connect and grow my sphere and be a true partner to them on their health & wellness journey.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has definitely not been a Smooth Road. I can’t even imagine what that would look like if It had been. Of course, when you’re in tough situations that are unpleasant the one thing you’re thinking is “why is this happening to me” or “how do I get out of this,” but once you’re on the other side, that’s when you realize how strong and capable you are that’s when you learn what not to do or what to do. The struggles are many. Sometimes it’s the struggle with a boss who tries to stifle your growth or doesn’t know how to serve others properly in his role. Sometimes it’s the struggle of “life” getting in the way which can look like anything from dealing with family issues, or your own issues. I think my biggest struggle along the way, up until recently, was not trusting the path God had me on and thinking I was the one in control and that my actions could make things happen. I think it’s easy to think you did it when things are good and it’s much harder to let go and let God. Whereas when the road is bumpy, the only foundation you have is God.
