Chaunva, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Chaunva. I am a wife, a mother x’s 6 (yes I birthed them all!!) a daughter, a sister and a friend! I am married to my soulmate and his name is Jamie! In 2011 I had my sixth child. As I was researching newborn photographers I fell in love with the sleepy baby portraits. I’d always had a camera and enjoyed taking pictures my entire life, but the newborn portraits took my breath away. I was already dabbling with photography so I totally switched gears and put all of my efforts into learning how to pose newborns safely. In late 2011, my job where I’d been working for 16 years had a big layoff. I feel like everything was within God’s perfect timing. After a few classes and a LOT of training Chaunva LeCompte Photography was born! I consider it a blessing to have the opportunity to share my talent with other families. I embrace the importance of each moment and freeze moments in time for an eternity. A portrait is timeless. “Let me tell your story!”
Has it been a smooth road?
Starting a business is never smooth! There are growing pains and tough decisions that have to be made if you want to go to the next level. Knowing where and how to market your business amongst stiff competition is always a struggle as well as having a good work/life balance. I’m still looking for that balance though! LOL

I have a love for and specialize in maternity, newborn and child photography! Since the beginning, my main focus has been new life. There is something about a new life that melts my heart! I absolutely love being allowed to share and photograph these precious miracles in their first days then having the opportunity to continue to watch them grow! My newborn style is sleeping baby portraits that I use my unlimited prop supply for!! My child photography is everything from in studio to outside to even fairytale photography. What I feel sets me apart from other newborn photographers is that I also offer HD ultrasounds in office so my studio is full circle. Prebaby, Maternity, Newborn and Child photography. I also provide same day viewing of your newborn portraits and offer a guaranteed 7 day turnaround from the day you make your portrait selections.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Definitely! The DFW area is one of the largest metroplexes in the United States which is home to many hospitals in the United States. There are plenty of opportunities for newborn photographers.
