Meet Chelsey Morin of Double Blessing Events in Downtown Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsey Morin.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chelsey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
So my identical twin sister and I loved planning events ever since we were in middle school, really. And when we went off to college, our love for it grew even more! We’d organize get-togethers with our friends, church events, and even our own birthday parties, haha!

Our friends quickly learned that we loved handling details, so when they got engaged, they asked us for help! Oh, were we ecstatic. We had dreamed about weddings ever since we could walk, practically, so this was so amazing!

Well, we ended up doing about a dozen weddings, and then we just kind of looked at each other and said, “Should we just start a business?” And so we did! We chose the name “Double Blessing Events” because we see ourselves as a double blessing to our brides, and we love Jesus, so it just fit perfectly.

Well, we kept it as a hobby and just did weddings whenever someone from our church asked us to. We never really saw it as a possibility to ever do this full-time.

After graduating, we both became teachers (surprise, surprise!), and would do weddings on the side. But God had different plans!

In April of last year, which was my 4th year of teaching, He started tugging on my heartstrings to pursue the business full-time.

Oh boy, was I scared out of my mind! But I was also so excited because this was literally my dream job.

So I bit the bullet, turned in my letter of resignation once the school year ended, and hit the ground running!

By June of that same year, just two months after I had decided to take the leap, I already have eight weddings in the books. Wow. This was definitely God providing! There’s no way that I did this myself.

And now, our wedding business is more successful than we ever imagined! It has been such a huge blessing getting to carry the planning burden for our brides so they can truly cherish every single moment. It truly is the most rewarding feeling in the world!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Oh goodness, no!! Haha! Not at all! Gosh, last October, I think it was, I had curled up on my bed crying because I didn’t know what to do. I felt like I had tried EVERYTHING. Craigslist, Facebook ads, posting on Instagram and YouTube, bridal shows…And no one was coming in. I didn’t get a single booking in about three months.

I really started to doubt if I just made a huge mistake and if I should just go back to teaching.

But I had mentors that I could reach out to, and they encouraged me to just keep going and give it time.

And then! Out of the blue! A bride called me who had gotten engaged the DAY BEFORE, and she found me on Craigslist! She signed with me the next day, and that was the only thing I needed to build up my momentum.

But gosh, it sure hasn’t been easy. But I’ve learned SO much along the way!

Double Blessing Events – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
So we are a wedding planning and coordinating business, and we help brides all over the Dallas-Fort Worth area. 🙂

Our absolute dream clients are those who love Jesus, too, and they LOVE Disney and Prince Charmings and Happily Ever Afters…all the super cliche stuff!

Our whole heart behind helping brides is because we saw how stressful planning weddings were, and it absolutely broke our hearts. We had grown up with this amazing picture of a fairy tale wedding, and we very clearly saw that this was far from a fairy tale! So we take on the burden so they can have an amazing engagement and wedding day, even better than they could ever imagine!

Not only are the bride and groom important to us, but their families, as well. In addition to reaching out and helping our brides and grooms, we also reach out to their parents and entire wedding party, just to check in on them and see if they need anything. Family is so important to us, and it’s their special day, too. 🙂

We are most proud of how genuine we are. Our hearts couldn’t be any bigger for our brides! It makes our entire week if we know that we’ve helped them out and allowed their wedding day to be more special. We definitely go above and beyond for them, and it’s so rewarding! We wouldn’t choose another job for the world. 🙂

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to us is making sure our brides know how much we care, how much we love them, and that we’re here for them whenever they need.

It makes our hearts so happy when we know we were able to take something off their plate! To help make this season exciting for them! To allow them to focus on their future marriage and spending time with their family and friends, instead of stressing out about napkin colors.
