Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Allen.
Hi Cheryl, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always had a passion for beauty No matter what it was a person or thing. Being in the beauty industry for many years as a Hairstylist gave me lead way to evolve and transition into the world of interior design. I went back to school in 2005 and got my interior designer certification. I later went to work for JCPenny’s for several years. In the custom window and drapery department. Traveling to so many beautiful homes only made my desire to branch out on my on that much stronger. I said one job at a time and following my passion. And having a very supportive family. Helped me throughout this process and believing in a myself. And being blessed with the ability of Vision that’s far beyond something I could have ever dreamed of having.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was not all smooth but it hasn’t been rough either. Every obstacle that comes my way. I try to find a bright side. And take it as a learning experience. But I count it all joy. I love what I’m doing.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The ability to see far beyond what is there is the Vision that God has blessed me with. I’m a very eclectic person and that part of me comes through my work. Creating one-of-a-kind pieces for my clients is amazing part of decorating for me. To know I have really left a part of me there for them to enjoy. Is sure gratifying. I love color and texture when I’m designing my spaces. My goal is to one day have my on designing storefront. I’m not that far away lol lol. Coming soon. The thing that sets me apart from others is. I design with my Vibe I get from the space and not the trends. I believe that every space is different. Just as we are. I’m really well-rounded when it comes to designing. And hands-on also. You can say I really love what I do. And if I have to say so I’m pretty darn good at it. At least that’s what I’ve been told. I would have to say the thing that sets me apart from others I would say I believe it’s more than designing I think it’s my gift. And I plan to continue to walk in it.
What’s next?
My plans for the future is to definitely continue to design the metroplex by far lol. And filter as much of Designs By’V everywhere I go. I really would like to expand and start a design movement of interior designers. We’ll see where it goes. Hey, I was always told the sky is the limit. So why not reach for not only the stars. The moon and the sun also.
