Meet Cheryl Menzel of Gel Nails by Cheryl in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Menzel.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Cheryl. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was inspired by the nail tech who did my first set of nails in 1985. After a few visits of getting my nails beautiful, I searched for the best cosmetology school to learn all about it and started my beginning of a long career doing what I love. Because I am friendly, ambitious and love what I do, I’ve become very successful with my career.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As with any business it was hard at the beginning to build my clientele. Because I was so eager to get it going I would place ads in the local newspapers for free sets of nails and put business cards all of over north Dallas at the local gyms, restaurants, salons. After 6 months of being in the business, I got my first big break when a co-worker referred her clientele to me as she was moving to Houston. I instantly got half of a clientele to get me really going. By then I had a few of my own so getting her clientele to add to mine really helped me to get on the road to success and I still have quite a few of those clients still today.

Gel Nails by Cheryl – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I currently have my own suite in a North Dallas salon called Sola Salon. My business is Gel Nails by Cheryl and I rent in studio 2. I specialize in authentic gel nails and gel polish. I started out doing acrylic nails in 1986 and continued on until 1995 when I first learned about Authentic Gel Nails. I found they were gentler to the natural nail and no harsh primers or drills were needed and that was the beginning of my gel nail business. Gel products are far more advanced today than they were in 95. Today I offer a great Gel Nail Product from Japan with protein to actually strengthen your nails using zero harsh primers or drills which are currently used today with acrylic nails and most other nail enhancements. My Gel Nail business definitely sets me apart from your average nail salon because I strive to keep the natural nail as healthy as possible using my products without the use of nail drills or harsh primers which are few and far between in Texas.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Being there for your customers, eager to please and striving to do what others don’t. Referrals from your customers is your biggest compliment.

Cheryl is an incredible nail tech. She’s eager to please her clients, super talented and fun to be around. When I moved to Dallas I tried other nail salons, but I was never happy with the results. One day I found her website and thought I’d give her a try. I’m so glad I did!

Cheryl knows her stuff. Her work is personalized and customized to your needs and likes. I have been going to Cheryl for both manicure and pedicure since 2014. She introduced me to gel nails to keep my nails looking great while traveling. Give Cheryl a try, you will love your nails. Sue

I am one of those clients who was referred to Cheryl in 1986 from her co-worker who was moving. Cheryl has kept my nails beautiful since that time. I haven’t and wouldn’t trust my nails to anyone else. She is absolutely the best!
