Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Allison.
Cheyenne, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
After graduating from high school, I attended Oklahoma State University, where I thought I would continue my schooling for the next four years to obtain a Bachelors degree. After three short semesters, I realized my heart was needing something more. As I thought about what my next move would be, I decided doing hair might be a great option for my hands-on learning style and creativity. I toured the Aveda Institute of Dallas, where I quickly fell in love with the atmosphere and mission. I started at the Aveda Institute of Dallas in early 2017 and shortly after, I was offered an assistant position at a salon in Nashville, TN. This opportunity would relocate me to a new city to grow as a stylist while finishing up school at the Aveda Institute of Nashville.
In early 2018, I graduated from the Aveda Institute of Nashville with honors and as class Valedictorian. In late 2018, I made the decision to move back to Frisco, TX and start my own business by renting a salon suite and became a freelance bridal artist. With the support of friends, family and online community, I have been able to grow my business tremendously.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting out, my biggest challenge was starting my own business while building a strong client base. After countless hours of researching business building strategies and gaining the trust of current clients, my business slowly grew by word of mouth referrals.

A Touch of Chey is a small hair salon focused on specializing in blondes, hand-tied extensions and bridal hair.
I am most proud of the growth and relationships I’ve built in a short amount of time, not only with my clients but other professionals throughout the industry. Educating my clients on the process, desired outcome and cost upfront is critical to me providing exceptional service.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was very social and competitive, always trying new things. I’ve always surrounded myself with strong, supportive women who lift each other up and that has carried over into building my business as well.
