Meet Chinwe Orabuchi of Chi’s Vegan Kitchen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chinwe Orabuchi.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Wow… where do I even begin? Well, I went through a season from the age of 23 to 26 where I suffered from severe, PAINFUL acne I tried every topical acne treatment, topical home remedy, topical Dr prescription (no oral meds!) and it would maybe work for some weeks then it would get even worse than before!

So after years of failed attempts, I started the vegan journey, and I switched my facial products to organic natural oils/soaps. With the consistency of a strict vegan diet and a natural organic skin care regimen, I’ve managed to change my body completely from the inside out.

Being a critical care nurse also showed me that good health is true wealth. I continued to see patients with health issues such as hypertension, diabetes, and coronary artery disease, etc. Their health issues were majorly directly related to things we eat. This motivated me to become proactive in promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The most high put it on my heart to become an agent for change, especially among African Americans. So along this journey of educating my patients, friends, and family about the importance of a healthy diet, I’ve developed a passion for cooking my favorite meals with a vegan twist and sharing them with others.

And this is how Chi’s Vegan Kitchen came about. I cook meals from popular breakfast entrées, desserts to Nigerian inspired dishes… all vegan! Chi’s Vegan Kitchen is my food page where I post all the dishes I make, and my YouTube channel is 🌱ChinweOh! Where my topics range from all things health and nursing (spiritual health, food, skin care, Nursing, education, etc.)

Our body is a temple; we can’t afford to treat it like a trash can.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
My only struggle would be staying patient. In a world where everything is literally at your fingertips, and things are so fast-paced, it’s hard not to want results to be fast… in reference to my business.

Although, I’d like to say it’s been a smooth road. I’ve learned the meaning of the word “patience” along the way. Anything worth having is going to take a lot of work and sacrifice, I live by that.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Chi’s Vegan Kitchen – what should we know?
I’m a self-proclaimed vegan chef. I laugh as I say that. I can make almost any meal and put a vegan twist to it. By day I am a critical care registered nurse.

I’m most proud of how I’ve opened a lot of people’s eyes to wanting to decrease the amount of animal consumption and increase their intake of fruits and vegetables.

The thing that sets me apart from others is my foundation. My reason for doing what I do is to also bring glory to Christ, and I love that I get to be light while still helping others.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Christ!!!! He gets all the glory! He’s enabled me financially and lit a fire within me where my passion burns! So yes if anyone gets the credit and praise, it’s Him first and foremost.

I do have to thank my cheerleaders, encouragers, motivators who are my family, friends and those who I don’t know who constantly support me. They push me to keep going.
