Today we’d like to introduce you to Chioma Amadi.
Hi Chioma, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Well, I started creating content for myself for a few years and then one of the videos I created got attention on Instagram from a specific business owner. That business owner requested me to start creating content for their business to really help promote their services. While I was doing that, a friend of mine inspired me to start a content creation business. I was a little hesitant to start so I prayed to God about it. After that, I decided to take it seriously. One day my church, RIG DFW, was announcing that they were taking testimonies and I decided to publicly share that I started a content creation business as my testimony. I received so much support from my church that day and I felt really encouraged. After that, I officially launched Moments By Chi on May 15th, 2024 on IG and received so much support from my friends and family.
I was working as a Program Manager for a healthcare IT company at the time, but 2 months after I launched my business I was let go from my job. The very day I was let go, I got a text from one of my church members that my Pastor wanted me to join the media team. That same day, I received a call that a non-profit organization wanted to work with me to create content to promote their event. I took this as a sign from God that I was on the right path and should continue regardless of what my surroundings looked like. Since then, I have been loving this journey and I am grateful to God for his divine direction throughout the entire way.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The huge challenge that comes to mind is that I tend to think that I need the latest and greatest technology to run my business. I still tend to have this challenge from time to time. I must let myself know that exceptional content comes from skill and imagination, not from the newest technology. So, I invest in learning techniques that enhance my storytelling, editing, and design skills.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m Chioma Amadi, a Dallas, Texas native with a strong Nigerian background. I’m specifically from the Igbo tribe, and I am the oldest out of 3 siblings. I am the founder of Moments By Chi, an Event Content Creation service that specializes in events. This is a brand that is near and dear to my heart because I get to visually uplift couples, businesses, families, and others in a special and creative way. Our mission is to capture those special moments so that you can relive them forever. I also create content for businesses and for event promotional purposes. I also create content for myself as a way to keep the fun moments and memories forever alive within me. Let’s just say I am a woman who not only lets the good times roll but wants to keep them forever. I am very proud that most of my clients found out about my services through word-of-mouth referrals. What sets me apart is my personality. I have been told that I am fun and easy to work with.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I know a lot of people prefer to network online, but I advise taking advantage of going to in-person networking events because people tend to remember your face in person more than your profile picture.
