Meet Chirag Gupta of NoD Coworking in North Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chirag Gupta.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
When I was in college at Northwestern University, I studied Industrial Engineering and Management Science. During that time, I had the opportunity to do internships at various advertising agencies in Chicago. There, I learned the ability to connect and collaborate with creative professionals. When I graduated in 2012, I felt drawn towards entrepreneurship. I joined a coworking space in Chicago and began learning how to code so I could launch some of my own internet companies. I fell in love with the work atmosphere at the coworking space and decided that one day I would start my own. So, when I moved back to Dallas in 2013, I founded a few meetup groups and mastermind groups which eventually evolved into a fully operational coworking space, now known as NoD Coworking. Throughout this journey, I was fortunate to find amazing mentors and advisors who have constantly challenge me and helped me grow as an entrepreneur.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
There have certainly been obstacles! When I started my coworking space in Dallas, the concept was still relatively new. People didn’t get it immediately. And that was a big reality check. The solution: patience and discipline. I knew that if we stuck to our values and continued to educate people, eventually we would gain more clients and find ways to grow our business. Another challenge was recruiting my team. A new type of business requires a new type of talent. Luckily, I have been able to recruit some amazing individuals who share my passion for coworking and community building. And now, that we’ve found that we work well together, we know exactly what to look for in future hires.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about NoD Coworking – what should we know?

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
The credit goes to our Advisory Board and our staff. Without their leadership and guidance, we would not be where we are today. I value the board members because they hold me accountable and they force myself and the staff to be honest with ourselves about what is working and what is not working.
