Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe Creese.
Hi Chloe, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I had grown up in the salon. My mother is a hairstylist, but it was never something that I really wanted to do so after high school I took a few classes at a community college. I’ve always had big dreams, but I never knew where to start. A year later, I realized that college wasn’t for me so I just worked full-time as a waitress. Then I figured I’d give it one more shot. I went into register for the fall semester and the advisor that I was speaking to had mentioned some thing about a few more spots being open in the cosmetology program so I decided to try it out if I didn’t like it it was just one year. When I first started Hair school I was really thinking that I could just do this to get me through the rest of college, but I quickly fell in love with everything about that career. I loved that It was a bunch of women supporting women. I loved the idea of being able to be my own boss and empowering people. I was really intrigued that you could make this career however big you wanted. There were so many paths to go down. I started teaching myself more than what we were learning in school. Once I graduated I wasn’t sure what to do because even though you go to school, there is so much more to learn. Most stylist do some kind of assistant work to learn more before they go out on their own but I was honestly ready to be my own boss, so I decided to booth rent at a salon that my mom was also working at because I figured what better person learn from. Now I get to work with amazing women everyday. If I can make someone feel confident in themselves, even if it’s just for one day when they get their hair done, my cup is full. I would not trade this job for the world. I absolutely love what I do. I can’t wait to keep building my business.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I always struggled with believing in myself is what it really comes down to. I think we’ve all had our fair share of going through troubles in life, but I think once I was really confident in myself and I took control, Everything just got better.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Hair X Chloe?
I am an independent hairstylist. I do everything from custom colors to blonding to extensions. I don’t Say I particularly specialize in anything, but I am very passionate about extensions. I love to do huge transformations and take someone’s hair from something They hate, to something They absolutely love.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If you’re just starting out in the Hair world, I’d want you to know that you will figure it out. It can be so overwhelming at first because it seems like everyone’s doing it and it seems like everyone has everything together, but they don’t. In this industry it’s something new every day so you just kind of have to accept the unexpected. In school, the curriculum is outdated and crammed into such a short amount of time. But just remember that you’re your biggest asset that we have everything at the tips of our fingers and if you really really want to, you can learn anything you want.
