Chrisette, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a Licensed Cosmetologist since 2007, fascinated with the art of capturing the essence of beauty! I fell in love with creating a safe place for clients to evolve while in my chair. That love grew into a deep passion for educating clients on ways to maintain healthy hair, identifying with their unique beauty while having the confidence to ROCK their own style!
Since the age of 12, becoming a Cosmetologist was a lifelong dream. That dream became a reality when I enrolled at Aveda Institute in 2006. Best decision ever!!! At the time, I was married, raising four children and working as an independent mobile hairstylist. It paved the way and birthed Total Serenity Hair Salon, which became more than just a salon. It was a place for women to come & quiet their spirits, relax and relinquish the cares of the world in a cozy suite. Soon, I realized that, Total Serenity was all that I dreamt it to be. A temple designed for ministry.
As they say, a testimony is produced from the test! Experiencing hair/scalp challenges of my own from using harsh chemicals in hair products for years. I was able to meet the needs of clients dealing with certain issues such as alopecia, tumors/cyst and/or damaged hair. That is when Purée Logik was formed. I researched ingredients that naturally cared for hair and this formula nourishes your scalp, conditions hair and promotes a healthy temple.
Harmony Hair Care Line is available for you to experience today! I chose my sister’s staple (Faith) to build this brand as a testament to ensure that I stay humble and passionate within my journey! Names are beneficial to branding; as it sets the tone, tells who you are and everyone will say it. What better way to ensure it is spoken into the atmosphere that (Faith) is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1

Has it been a smooth road?
For starters, I learned that there are no easy ways to build a brand and to throw short cuts out the window!
I prefer to look at setbacks as challenges, and I quickly learned that “I” was my only obstacle. Fear gripped a whole on me in the early planning stages. It was the fear of the unknown… I often questioned; If someone would support my brand and believe in what my products offered. Once I stepped on fears’ neck, I became unstoppable.
Secondly, I would definitely say social media can become challenging at times. Learning how to navigate & retain followers, new technology, advertising and marketing via the web can become overwhelming. I love social media for personal use. It was a no-brainer to incorporate its usefulness for branding. A remedy for challenges is to network and have an accountability partner. I’m still gaining new followers. It’s slow, yet steady and I’m okay with that!
Thirdly, 2020 hit like a roaring lion, attempting to devour! The world has been in total chaos. Understanding the times, we are living in, balancing social distancing, at-home learning for some, and the loss of love ones has definitely placed a damper on things. I decided to channel that negative energy into product development and incorporated strategies to keep my environment safe as I created products and filled orders in my home as a commitment to keeping customers safe!

Purée Logik Beauty Essentials derived from my passion to create natural hair care products that care for and maintain healthy hair. The brand is known for its hair/body butter and infused hair oil. These two products alone have paved the way for Puree Logik to launch an entire hair care line. What pleases me the most is the support and satisfaction of my customers. Purée Logik is unique in its own way, there is a science behind it all! I found that focusing on the quality of my products over quantity is the best equation to ensure each customer achieves their desired results, and it helps set a standard for my brand and apart from others.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I absolutely believe Texas is the place to start! However, I would implore anyone desiring to start a business to do just that… start! I’m a New Orleans Native. I believe in culture, diversity, empowerment, networking, e-commerce, and business resources. In my field, Texas proved to be a pathway for this small business to operate. Texas has a business structure for any small business if you ask me. It just takes time, research and capital to run a successful business. Purée Logik currently operates as an e-commerce store and have plans to expand by building a brick and mortar! I’m always looking for new ways to develop my brand and as I look around the city, it does the same with new building developments. I’m looking forward to moving into phase two and planning the future of Puree Logik.
