Christa, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Our journey started over three years ago when my wife and business partner started experiencing unusual health problems. We were seeking help and looking for answers from any and every traditional doctor we could find. Things kept getting worse though and we felt like there had to be more answers than what they we’re giving us. Most of them which lead us to medications to mask symptoms and then not finding the underlying problem. About a year into searching for answers, we decided to take the situation into our own hands and focus on healing with food. But as you know, there is no perfect human diet book available. We literally walked into our kitchen that day and decided that the typical American diet was at fault for these issues and threw out every boxed food, soda, snack and basically anything that had more than three ingredients or a word we had to refer to wiki-pedia for. The decision was made and with love, hope and faith, we knew we were doing the right thing.
Our first step was to start a vegetable garden and provide ourselves with food we knew was Organic and pure. On our journey to find answers, we discovered Microgreens and were blown away at the amount of nutrients that were readily available for the human body and even better, we could produce them in around 10 days. Within a week, we had everything we needed to get started. It was a success! We had Microgreen vegetables growing with four to 40 times more nutrients than their adult versions. So that meant 4 to 40 times more vitamins and minerals to help her body beat the illness that was wanting to emerge. Within a few weeks, after we started growing, we spread the word to friends and family.
Many of them encouraged us to spread the word and supply more people with these amazing nutrients. So we did. We now supply many families in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Wilbarger, Bastrop, Travis and Childress Counties. Not to mention many other states we have shipped our starter kits to. We are a direct to consumer Health-Focused Microgreens Supplier. Many people who seek us out are dealing with illnesses such as Diabetes, Anxiety, Depression, Onset Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Heart Health, Hypertension, Inflammation, many Autoimmune disorders, Cancer (fighting and preventing), gut and overall health. Not all Microgreens are created equal, though. We encourage everyone to highly vet their suppliers and take into consideration their growing method, time since harvested if shipped to a store from another state and their motive for growing them in the first place. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I am not sure there is ever a smooth road in life, it’s really about how you navigate on that road. My wife was our sole-provider and starting this business was originally planned as a side-gig and in addition to us working on her health issues. However, with the differences we noticed in our own health after adding them to our diets, we were and will continue to be driven to spread the word about and provide high-quality Microgreens. My wife eventually had to go on disability but was told by her amazing new Functional Medicine Doctor, Tricia O’Brien M.D., that her lifestyle and diet were the reason she was avoiding the huge amounts of inflammation that come from autoimmunity. Microgreens are listed as therapeutic in the exact food plan she was put on. It was a sign and even more obvious we were led to them for a reason.
Then COVID-19 hit and the farmer’s market was instantly closed. This was now our main source of income for our business and our family. We used this platform as a way to pick-up new subscribers and spread the word about the nutritional value. However, we doubled-down on our social/media efforts and with our public focus on health, we have continued to keep adding new subscribers. However, the best way to get the word out is to provide nutrient dense and amazing flavor packed Microgreens. They speak for themselves. Good news though Frisco Fresh Market is now open again with precautions but, the traffic is at least 50% lower so we decided to add prepared vegetable loaded salads at the market and we are now pickling for our subscribers!
