Being a high school drop-out I had no plan on what my future held I decided to go cosmetology school when I was 20. My son was born a week after I graduated so the pressure was on to make a living unable to land a job at a salon I went to barbershop I had cut men’s hair since I was in high school I struggled my first six months trying to make it but I stuck to it fast forward three years I opened my first barbershop in Cedar Hill in 2011 I sold it after a yr and opened a new location in bishop arts “the kings club”. I now have an uptown location Atelier Barber co. We’ve been open for six months and our business has skyrocketed and our team has grown my goal for 2020 is to relaunch my product line.
Has it been a smooth road?
Often people see the success but never experienced the struggle I worked seven days a week to get where I’m at now and I plan to make work week this yr from 4 to 3 days.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes I think I picked the perfect location for where I built atelier. Within Dallas there are several places to open a successful barbershop my advice is to do your research don’t jump into something because it’s cheap to make sure you have your own following and clients before you commit to starting your own business.
