Meet Christian Bryan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Bryan.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
From an early age, I have always been interested in the culinary world. From observing my parents cook each night to eating my grandma’s delicious treats, food has always been a thing that has brought my family together and sparked joy. I started cooking when I was in the third grade, I began with baking simple desserts like cakes and cookies and over the summer I joined a local cooking camp. As I learned more about the art of cuisine, I advanced on to cooking more savory and complex foods. I kept cooking as a hobby as I grew up and I challenged myself to experiment with difficult and unique recipes. My passion for cooking grew and when I was in the eighth grade, I decided to audition as a contestant for Food Network’s Chopped Junior. After numerous phone calls and cooking demos, I was ecstatic when I heard the news that I was going to compete on the show in New York City. The competition was difficult, it required both perseverance and extreme focus, the overall experience was life changing and I was able to come out as a 2nd place finalist.

I have been able to keep this amazing experience with me as inspiration for the future of my culinary journey. My interest in outer space has also been an extremely important aspect of my life. I visited NASA for the first time in fourth grade where I slept overnight at a space-themed camp. I remember being in awe as I viewed the massive rockets and astronaut training centers at the Johnson Space Center. I soon realized that I had developed a true passion for Aerospace Engineering which I researched while I was not cooking. Just recently in High School, I was accepted into the High School Aerospace Scholars Program run by NASA, where I was enrolled into a rigorous course that taught me about the basics of aerospace engineering and space exploration and it gave me the opportunity to attend an onsite NASA experience this summer. All of these achievements in combination with my 7th-year membership in Girl Scouts has truly allowed me to develop responsible, creative, and leadership like traits. I am tremendously excited to see where these paths lead me and what the future holds.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Life holds it various obstacles and for me the largest challenge that I have had to overcome is balance. In order to focus on my dreams and aspirations, I have had to balance a 4.0 GPA and multiple AP classes with my culinary and scientific goals. I have learned so much from my friends and family about how to achieve a healthy balance and the importance of taking time to relax every once in a while. Overcoming this obstacle has proved to be extremely beneficial to my life. I have learned that it is not about how you perceive the obstacle; it is ultimately about how you overcome it that is the most important. Learning about how to balance life’s various challenges has ultimately shaped me into the person I am today.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is not a universal term; it has varying degrees of importance; however; its purpose of achieving a goal remains the same. Everyone strives for some level of success but this success does not necessarily have to be found in their largest goal, such as starting a thriving business or buying a house, success can also be found in everyday achievements. Success means overcoming a goal of high personal value. It is extremely important that we realize the our little successes and apply them as stepping stones that will ultimately allow us to achieve our larger goals. Success builds both confidence and moral character that can be lifelong. My personal successes have allowed me to become the person I am and granted me amazing opportunities that I will never forget.
