Meet Christina Meeks of Theofficial.christina in DeSoto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Meeks.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Christina. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was younger, I tried every sport you could think of. It wasn’t until I was about eight-years-old that I decided to become a dancer. As time went on I eventually started to pursue acting and modeling alongside dance. Dance has always had me on a demanding schedule so I never had the chance of experiencing a real job. So, around December of 2018 I had an idea of starting my own business called “C.T.E. Sweets” C.T.E. stands for Christina, Tina, and Evelina. Tina and Evelina were my grandmothers that both passed back in 2017. I wanted them to still be a part of my next journey as I enter adulthood and my business is a way I still feel connected to each of them.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The industry is a tough place, and I had to learn that at a young age. For the past year, I’ve applied to multiple agencies and I’ve been rejected multiple times. There has been moments when I’ve sat in my bedroom and cried and prayed, asking “Why am I not getting anywhere?” or “Is this all a sign that this is not the career for me?”. However, my faith wouldn’t allow me to give up on myself so easily.

Theofficial.christina – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Going more into C.T.E. Sweets, I sell a variety of desserts. The main seller is my Ice Cream Sundaes. Depending on what flavor you chose, it’s a layer of ice cream and a layer of candy, and it repeats. Then it’s topped off with Whip Cream and more candy! I also sell Ice Cream Funnel Cakes and Chocolate Covered Strawberries.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me is achieving YOUR goals. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Jamal Josef, he choreographed Coachella for Beyoncé, I’ve also worked with Shir’Juanda “Bounce” Woodson, and Regina Tucker. I was recently inducted into the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. As well as being awarded “Senior Principal Dancer” while being featured on television as well. Those were some of the goals I’ve set for myself and achieved. Once I’ve filmed a movie with Lauren London and Taraji P. Henson, then I’ll say I’ve achieved success.

Pricing:

  • Ice Cream ($7-$8)
  • Funnel Cakes ($5-$8)
  • Chocolate Strawberries ($6-$14)
