Meet Claire Capek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Claire Capek.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Claire. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I was always a ham in front of the camera. So my mom signed me up to walk in the North Texas Child runway event, where I got to be in front of local Kim Dawson agents Dee Ann Vernon and Matt Tucker. My mom said she thought it was great when the agents stopped me to ask some questions at the end of the runway. Then months later we got the call that I was selected to be on the cover of North Texas Child magazine.
Later, I was signed by the Kim Dawson agency, and that began my modeling journey at age six. I had a lot of opportunities to model for various clients, including American Girl, JC Penney, Belk’s, Academy Sports, and many more. About the same time, I also started taking acting classes at the best acting school in the world, Cathryn Sullivan’s Acting for Film! I have been regularly taking classes there since then, and have been a Master Student for five years now, and a student aide for five years as well. It was through my acting studio that I also got to perform at many different acting seminars, in front of incredible industry guests, including the LA agency that eventually signed me called, AEFH. With the knowledge and skills I’ve learned through those classes and seminars, I have had a lot of opportunities to audition for and book various commercials, videos, and films, and hope to be even more successful in the future. My passion is acting and modeling and I hope I can continue to make that my full-time career.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I wouldn’t say it’s been easy.  It is always a juggle, managing school, family, friends, last minute auditions, jobs, castings, acting classes, working as a student aide, etc. Additionally, there are lots of auditions where you put in your all and you don’t get it. You learn to deal with rejection and learn to have a good attitude about it and move on. There are so many things that are completely out of your control when auditioning, so you just have to do your best and pray you’re the best fit. But, it is my passion, and with the right determination, practice, training, and persistence, sometimes it really pays off!
Another thing that is difficult is that sometimes people misunderstand me because they do not really understand the acting and modeling world for my age group. They think I’m rich or famous; but I’m not. It is a LOT of hard work to do it right, and it takes a lot of resiliency to bounce back from some people’s judgment of who they think I am. People also assume that it’s easy and anyone can model or act well. But I study every aspect of acting and modeling to do it well, and consistently. And no, I do not think I’m special because I’m an actor and a model. I call it my extracurricular activity, like others that have volleyball, or soccer, or football, or dance, or band. It’s just what I enjoy doing with my free time. And something that I also hope provides me with a future.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Claire Capek – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I am most proud of my continuing education and practice as an actor and model. I love doing a great audition, and then hearing that I finally booked the part. Recently I have been a part of some really great short films, including “A Date for Dad”, “Mother’s Day”, “Encounter – Life Teen”, and others.
I am also happy with my continued training as a model and have had some great shoots recently with some amazing photographers, hair, and makeup artists, and stylists. Building a great network really pays off. And being kind ALL THE TIME really pays off, too. I can’t tell you how many times my path has come across others I have randomly met. Be kind always!
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future plans include continued training as an actor and a model. I will be taking some great classes this summer at Cathryn Sullivan’s Acting for Film, and working as a student aide in a lot of great classes as well. I would LOVE to see you there!
And soon, I hope to be tall enough to start working and booking modeling jobs in the adult division of the Kim Dawson agency.
I would also really love to visit my AEFH agents in LA, and someday hope to travel out there for auditions, work, or to visit and audition during the summer for episodic or pilot season.
