Meet Clinton Azeez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clinton Azeez.

Clinton, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I came to America from Lagos, Nigeria, ten years ago. I started Djing after I graduated from University of North Texas in 2017. I started by opening for Dj Rell who helped me with the fundamentals of the craft. I was able to use my connections and regular job as an engineer to fund my Dj brand, equipment’s, concerts. I also use my do music with mainly Afrobeat artists simply because that’s my lane for now. I’m privileged to have a lot of friends in the Afrobeat industry. For a young boy that started with two old speakers passed on to him by his dad, I’m just very thankful to God for where I am today.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Honestly, it’s been very, very rough, but I will keep those to myself for now. We still dey sha lol.

Please tell us about your work.
Dj Bode is a gimmick played by me. I think of it like Dwayne Johnson playing “The Rock” on WWE, Dj Bode is a business that is operated by me. Dj Bode is an Afrobeat Dj that has done multiple concerts, weddings, birthday parties, private events, and shows in different places. Dj Bode also released five songs in his first full year as a Dj featuring Danny S, Zlatan, Oladips, Dotman, Lasgiidi and Diamond Jimma.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to me, has just been able to touch lives positively and still enjoy yourself doing it.
