Meet Coal and Lindsey Loviatar

Today we’d like to introduce you to Coal Loviatar, Lindsey Loviatar.

Coal, Lindsey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Let’s roll past the formalities and jump right in! We are the Loviatars, Coal & Lindsey, a married dynamic duo with a whirlwind of creative gusto, sifting abilities, and endless jokes that would one-up your father. A good time in our household involves waking up early to begin our treasure hunting escapades, renovating our 1970’s house, and parenting our two schnauzers toast & Malone.

If you’re wondering how this whole thing came about, here is the low down: coal and I shared a love of thrifting and antiquing long before we began dating. It became a past time that quickly consumed our date nights and every ounce of free time we could spare. With wicker bursting at the seams, we quickly outgrew our first apartment. In 2018 we purchased our first house and realized that no matter how many times we Feng Shui’d the place, we had too many belongings between the two of us. The outreach we received from our social media followers, fellow houseware vendors, and dear friends prompted us to share our treasures with the world. Our passion evolved into a business and thus, loviatar’s was crafted.

We cater to the weird, wild and the downright funky. Stylistically, we gravitate towards items with 1970’s, Japanese and Gothic influences, but when it comes down to it if we love something we are going to snag it. Simply put, if my jaw doesn’t drop, we’re not adding it to our inventory. We hope you have sweet satisfaction in knowing that with each purchase, you’re saving us from becoming hoarders in addition to making your space undeniably you! We hope our curation encourages you to go against the grain, challenge the status quo and live vibrantly.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have high ambitions in regards to where we want to position our brand for the future! The biggest challenge we have faced thus far is deciding what is the best financial decision to make in terms of expanding the business. We are constantly finding really cool items that we would love to share with our customers. It is difficult to know how much to buy into when storage space is currently limited. We have goals of moving into a brick and mortar location that will provide a place for clients looking to buy or to rent a chance to touch and feel the unique products that we offer! In the meantime, we take pride in celebrating the daily victories such as selling an item to a customer who traveled from out of state, starting a market to support the DFW small business community, helping source one of a kind item for a clients big day and so much more! These little victories add up to the ultimate reason why we do what we do!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Loviatar’s is a Vintage Event Rentals & Interior Curations shop. We source unique furniture and home decor items that we sell on our website and our Instagram page. Our stylistic tendencies gravitate towards Mid-Century Modern, Japanese influenced, and an endless array of Rattan. We post new items daily on our Instagram page and update our website weekly! Be sure to subscribe to push notifications on our Instagram. This one of kind items moves quickly!

We just launched the Rentals section of our business at the beginning of the month. The inspiration for curating the Rentals business stemmed from the white space we saw in the DFW marketplace after our wedding. We hand made nearly every component of our big day! We felt there was a huge opportunity to provide unique decor and furniture sets for brides, event planners and corporations in the DFW metroplex! Our aim is to provide a personalized approach to outfitting any space by providing vintage and eclectic furniture and home decor items that add a memorable touch to any event. We cater to weddings, corporate events, film sets, photographers and more. If you need furniture, tabletop decor, or backdrops for an event, we have you taken care of!

In addition to selling and renting housewares, we also offer Curated Picking. Think of us as your sourcing sleuths. We have worked with various hotels and restaurants across the U.S. to find unique artwork, furniture and decor to complete a vision. If you are working on a project, feel free to fill out an inquiry form on our website!

Lastly, Loviatar’s is hosting its first handmade & vintage market called Found & Created! We are excited to be face to face with the DFW community and support other talented vendors we admire. We have more event details on our Instagram page! We hope to see you there!!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
One of the first items we listed for sale was a 5-foot tall woven fiber art from the 1970’s. We came into contact with a design firm out of Dallas that purchased the piece from Loviatar’s to display in George Straight’s Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort! We love it when our items go to public spaces for more eyes to enjoy!
