Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Hill.
Hi Corey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I got started back in 2000 in the entertainment industry as a rapper with a label named Gritty Bizniz. Music has always been my first love and still have my hands in it today in a consulting capacity but I will get back to it soon enough. However, I decided to be in the background so I went and got a broadcasting degree to start a career in radio to highlight the artists I like that were underground rather than mainstream. I created an awesome team and developed a successful internet radio show at Fishbowl Radio called The Cap Hill Radio Show that won Show of the year in 2013. I decided then that I wanted to get more hands-on with the talent I know existed HERE since Dallas at the time was slept on. So, I developed and started executive producing by showing the awesome local talent that the city of Dallas has as a whole. I started a bi-weekly episodic television show called 1st and 15th that highlighted musicians, comedians, and a local business. I’ve always been naturally witty, quick hit funny, and had a voice that moved people so through meeting comics and developing rapport, I would go support their shows and it created an itch that I had to scratch. I went to a local open mic in April 2018 and feel in love with comedy who I know call my new wife so I’m with her for life.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life has never been smooth road for myself. I believe resiliency is my greatest asset because strife has always rode shotgun next to me in this thing, we call life. Numerous financial burdens are created by investing in the wrong things or people, bad relationships, a dissolved marriage, etc. All of these contributed as distractions to try and get me off my path to success. However, once I put my mind to something, nothing can get in the way of me completing my goals. I’m too methodical and consistent in my endeavors to quit or be altered. I’m just built that way
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in Stand-Up Comedy, Hosting, Producing, Event Preparation, and Film. I’m known for my voice and my laid-back style on stage. I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve created in my short span of time in this game. I have the personal numbers of the biggest comics Dallas has to offer that tour regularly and appear in films, tv shows, and the like. I believe what sets me apart from my peers is my humble approach to this grind. I’m a boss in my own right and I know what I’ve done and am still capable of doing but when you are humble enough to still listen, learn, and watch people better than you and have those people believe in you and invest in your development. You can’t beat that no matter funny you think you are as that is the LEAST important thing needed to succeed in this game.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Consistency, being humble, networking, and strong execution when the lights come on. The people paid for your product you got to give them they money’s back or you lose
