Meet Corey Pratt of Vanta Media in Oak Cliff

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Pratt.

Corey, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in the grossly impoverished southern sector of Dallas in an area known as Highland Hills. I was one of the lucky few who had a two parent household. My father, an Ex-Con who had an insatiable thirst for knowledge; instilled in me the value of chasing your dreams and never settling for what someone gives you. That lesson, learned long ago, is what made me take a chance at 30 with a wife and two daughters and start a production company. I’m proud to say we’ve just wrapped our very first production. A TV show without a home called, #WASHED.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth ride at all. Finding a work-life balance has been my biggest hurdle. Starting a new business is demanding, Add a wife and two daughters to that and things can seem damn near impossible. You have this idea that you have to dedicate every hour to your business for it to be successful. That train of thought can have you disengaged on date night or can be used as an excuse to not read a bedtime story.

It’s something I’m still working on to this day.

VANTA MEDIA – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
VANTA MEDIA is a production company that specializes in black centric entertainment; more specifically TV and web content. Since formation in August of 2017, we’ve completed our first TV show (without a home) called “#WASHED”. We are extremely proud of that! The show was produced in conjunction with Emmy Award Winning production company, The Creative Couch.

I think what sets us apart is our originality. Our stories haven’t been told and we’re the only ones who can tell them CORRECTLY.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by freedom. Freedom to wake up and do what you love without being tied to a desk or dependent upon some company.
