Today we’d like to introduce you to Corian Boyd.
Corian, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was first introduced to acting at the age of seven in my home church. As a child, acting was just a fun activity that I enjoy doing, but over the years, acting grew from a pass time to a passion. At the age of ten, my life began to change for the worse. At such a young age, I began experiencing confidence issues loss of identity and overall confusion. During that time, I endured physical, verbal, and emotional abuse. When I got to middle school performing took on a whole new meaning, I Used performing as an escape when I was on stage I was another person I did not have to think about or live my reality all of my problems were nonexistent. Freshman year of high school I joined theater and met so many different people and I experienced fine arts in a whole new spectrum I was with other people Who shared my gift and had the same drive and passion as I did. Now I am 17 years old, a part of the graduating class of 2020 and I plan on taking my dream and turning it into a reality.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My journey was not easy by far, but the challenges I faced not only broke me but taught me how to build myself and face any obstacles that come my way. Not only do I want to be successful but I want to be a success story for other young men and women who are going through hardships in their lives. I want to be the living proof that no matter what obstacles or challenges you may face, believe in yourself, believe in your goals, believe in your dreams, work hard, be dedicated and have faith that in the end, everything will work out in your favor. There is a way out!
Tell us more about your work.
I am a 17-year-old actor, dancer, singer, rapper. I feel that I am different from others simply because I put my heart, mind, body and soul into what I do. I’ve always heard of a plan A, B, and C. I have no backup plan I believe that having a backup plan is setting yourself up to fail. If you want something as bad as you say you do, there’s no option but to accomplish your goals. If you have in the back of your mind that there’s any possibility you won’t succeed or prosper in what it is You love to do or you dream of doing, then you should just give up because you’re already setting yourself up to fail.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck, everything that I have accomplished or I’m going to accomplish is solely based on hard work, dedication, and faith in God and trusting his plan and believing that he will not fail me nor will I fail him.
