Meet Cortney Lachelle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cortney Lachelle.

Cortney, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am a singer/songwriter out of Oklahoma. I’ve been into music all of my life but have recently (2019) decided to take it seriously and actually pursue a career. I released my first single, “Cry Sometimes,” mid-2020 and shortly after released the music video for it which has done really well. In September 2020, I released my first body of work, an EP titled “The Cycle,” which walked listeners through the cycle of a relationship. This EP is doing amazing numbers and I am working on more music currently.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There have been a ton of obstacles in my way when it comes to making music. I’ve loved and have been into music all of my life, but my own self-doubt/insecurities are the reason I am just now truly getting started. I struggled for so long because I never liked my voice even though I’ve always been told I have a beautiful voice. I now realize that timing is everything and I am now doing amazing things musically and my confidence has shot through the roof. Also, I used to care too much about how others would view me as an artist, which is why it took me so long to get started.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
I am a singer/songwriter and I personally believe I make great music. I specialize in telling stories through my music. I always have something to say within my songs that people have experienced before and can relate to. I make music about real things, real-life problems, realistic love while also being able to make it fun and a vibe.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in good/bad luck. I believe that when you are made for something, nothing can stop you from being successful in that area but yourself. We all have a purpose and I believe mine is to make music that people can feel, relate to, and can be classic. Timing is everything so all of the good things that are happening for me musically are happening to me now because they are supposed to be. It may not have been this way for me had a started back when I actually wanted to.
