Meet Courtney Osborne of Courtney with Dalashes in Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Osborne.

Courtney, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve always been into Make-up and everything beauty. I would do my grandmother and aunts lashes (strips) on all special occasions. In 2016, I was really down and out and needed to change my life because it was heading down the wrong path. I was living with my mom and my two children. I’ve always wanted to attend cosmetology school whether it was hair or makeup, I just wanted to do it all. I went and spoke with the admission counselors at Ogle to get everything going. The only Dilemma I had was that I didn’t have a sitter for night school so it would be really hard to try to work, go to school and be a full-time parent. I called my boyfriend now Husband and the only thing he kept telling me was JUST DO IT and FINISH IT. I had a problem with starting task and never finishing because I would always get discouraged by the smallest things! I trusted his advice and JUST did it!

I enrolled into the esthetician program which was 11 months part-time. One day, they had these ladies come in to our school to show us how to do individual lash extensions. Now before they came I did show little interest but not a lot in lash extensions. They let us do hands-on practice and that’s when I knew that this was my calling. I was sooo interested in learning more. The next month they allowed users to do lash extension certifications and of course, I signed up. We had to do 10 models before we graduated and I did that and some. I graduated with my license and lash certification in April of 2017.

I still worked a 9-5 job and did lashes part-time at my house. I recently quit my 9-5 job and I am now a full time lash artist lashing from home as well as traveling lash artist! I service at least 15 clients a week and working on doubling that by next month! I always think back to the time my husband and I spoke over the phone and he told me to JUST DO IT and I thank God for him and everyone that has helped me and encouraged along the way. I encourage anyone that has their minds set on doing something great to JUST DO IT. Fear is what keeps a lot of people from chasing their dreams. TAKE A LEAP OF FAITH, STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE AND JUST DO IT!

Has it been a smooth road?
There were plenty of obstacles along the way. When I first started school my husband was still working out of town so finding a baby sitter Monday – Thursday was pretty hard. He did end up quitting his job to come home and help me until I finished school. Then There was money. Since I was the only one working at the time, money was scarce. I had all kinds of bills and my share of tuition that financial aid did not pay for so it was pretty tough at times but by the grace of God we always found a way.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Courtney with Dalashes story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in lash extensions. I am known in my area as the traveling lash artist.  People love convenience I mean who doesn’t. When I first started, my idea was to help the working moms or people that didn’t have time to really pamper themselves due to their children or their work. I do allow mother to bring their children if need to and I come to them if they just don’t want to haul their kids out. I guess what sets me apart is my convenience and willing to work around schedules.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see myself with my own beauty shop in the next 5-10 years. There will be hair, makeup, lashes, nails, facials, wax, etc… but I will always be an independent traveling lash artist! I will still travel to my clients if need to no matter what state!
