Meet Cristina Lynch of Mi Golondrina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristina Lynch.

Cristina Lynch

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I officially began working on Mi Golondrina in 2012 and launched the business in 2013. I was 24 and so excited to start. I had worked in fashion in New York, where I saw embroidery in the luxury space, and I was eager to showcase the beauty of Mexico. I moved home, and I lived with my parents for three years while getting the business started. I’ll always be thankful for that time with them.

My love for Mexico begins with my mom, who was born in Torreón, Coahuila. She has been collecting art from Mexico since she was 18 and now has an Instagram account, @estrellasmiasart, dedicated to sharing the stories of the artists behind each piece.

When I was first getting started, I connected with Jason Needleman, the CEO of Peacock Alley, who is still a mentor today. I asked him what he thought about luxury linens featuring hand-embroidered decorative pillows. He was so kind to take a chance on me and help me get the product started. I learned so much about quality from Peacock Alley.

Mi Golondrina has been my greatest education and the most meaningful connector. I’ve met so many incredible artisans and women in Mexico and the U.S. because of it, and I’m so thankful for that. We work with artisans in Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Aguascalientes, and the different floral embroideries are part of each community’s identity. Each piece tells the story of the woman who made it, and we’re proud to partner with them to create intricate pieces for our community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think challenges happen every day. That’s part of entrepreneurship, and I’ve learned to handle them with more perspective over time. Of course, it can be hard at times, but I’m so thankful for our team and the way they help me face everything with positivity. I’ve learned that challenges often lead to the most growth. They push you to be more creative, to listen, and to adapt. There have been seasons where things felt uncertain, but they can lead to new opportunities and stronger connections with our team and artisans. Nothing about building a business is smooth, but it has been incredibly meaningful.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Mi Golondrina is a clothing brand dedicated to preserving and celebrating the artistry of Mexico. Each piece is handcrafted in partnership with over 600 artisans across the country, showcasing embroidery techniques passed down through generations. Our collections feature timeless, elevated styles rooted in sustainability and respect for traditional craftsmanship.

Each community we partner with has its own distinctive embroidery, a visual expression of identity and culture. We work collaboratively with artisans to design new styles and, most importantly, ensure fair wages that empower them to sustain these traditions for generations to come.

What sets Mi Golondrina apart is our deep, lasting connection to the artisan communities we work with. We’re not just inspired by Mexican culture — we’re part of it. Having a brand called Mi Golondrina Mexico is both a privilege and a responsibility, and my mission is to honor the artisans’ work and share their incredible talent with the world. I feel at home in Mexico and am endlessly grateful to my mother for passing that love on to me.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
Definitely the people. Dallas has an incredible community of entrepreneurs and such beautifully supportive friends. I don’t know what I’d do without my girlfriends. I also love the food. We have so many fantastic restaurants. I don’t like being negative, but if I had to say something, it would be that I miss nature a bit. My husband loves being in the mountains, and sometimes I wish there were more outdoor activities here.
