Meet Crystal Allaway and Kathy Rockwell of KC Chic Events in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Allaway and Kathy Rockwell.

KC Chic Events was founded in 2015 and ran by a Mother/Daughter Duo by the name of Kathy and Crystal. After decorating several events for church, they quickly realized that they should turn this into a small business because they displayed so much passion and creativity between the two of them. Their collaboration made it very easy for them to come up with new ideas. Once they decided to become business partners and established their name it was time to test the waters. They started out by decorating parties for family and friends at little or no cost to gain experience and to master the behind the scenes preparations need to have a successful party. They have worked with several clients by way of referrals or inquires received from social media. These events have helped their clientele progress over the years.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Since starting the business, we have had our share of snags along the way. We are constantly evolving and still learning about how to run a successful business. We still struggle with creating packages and estimating a reasonable cost to clients all while trying to make sure that we make a profit and remain debt free. We also had an issue purchasing items in the beginning that were not reusable because we were so anxious and excited about the ideas, that we did not purchase practical items that we could add to our inventory for future clients, which eventually cut into our profit.

KC Chic Events – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Our company provides party décor styling for all types of events that include baby shower, gender reveal parties, weddings, birthday parties, corporate meetings, church events, graduation, anniversaries and etc. We specialize in baby showers and birthday parties for all ages, these account for the majority of the parties that we have done since starting the business. What sets our company apart is the creativity that we bring to the table when planning out every event. It is important to us to make sure that our customers are satisfied with the vision that we present to them for the events.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
As an entrepreneurs, it is important that we keep the passion for our craft. We have to maintain a willingness to learn new trends and continue to gain the necessary knowledge of the industry changes. We continue to set stretch goals for our business yearly to ensure that we continue to grow. These goals will help us achieve our long term dream of eventually owning our own venue and hiring more employee as we expand into the wedding industry.
