Crystal, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
How It Started:

After spending over 23 years as a finance leader and executive in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Food & Beverage (17 years with PepsiCo, 6 years with The Coca-Cola Company) I reached a pivotal point after a company restructuring. I would be required to relocate to Atlanta, GA to remain with my company. I made the decision not to relocate my family and to advance my career and our life in TX. After exploring many options – corporate & entrepreneurial – I decided I wanted to pursue ownership in the Beauty industry; specifically the Lash industry. I have always had a love for Beauty and thought I would surely pursue Finance in the Beauty industry after finishing my MBA. When that did not happen it became clear to me that I must return to Beauty through ownership.

Through thorough research I landed on Amazing Lash Studios (ALS) and WellBiz Brands (the parent company). ALS appealed to me because of their strong portfolio of brands. Amazing Lash established the lash industry, which is phenomenal. I also love the elevated lashing experience with private suites, allowing the client a true spa experience.

I began talks with WellBiz Brands in November 2023 and signed my franchise agreement in February 2024. It has been a long journey as new construction often is. After identifying an amazing location I signed my lease agreement in October 2024 before the building had even broken ground. I’m very excited about my team and bringing our services to this growing part of our community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Identifying the ideal location was the first challenge. I knew LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! was everything!

Finding funding has been the most challenging part. I moved forward with self-funding after many, many banks rejected me. Sixty-one percent of African-American women self-fund their businesses and I understand why now through this experience. I leveraged my entire retirement to fund my business and ran into a funding shortfall. My project extended so much past Plan A, B, C and D! I could not have survived without my support system and my faith.

There were so many construction delays, contributing to my personal and business financial challenges.

Lastly, there were many management changes within my parent company that were unnerving for a first time franchisee.

Amazing Lash West Frisco (ALWF) is a licensed franchise of Amazing Lash Studios (ALS), which is one of five (5) brands within the WellBiz Brands (WBB) portfolio. ALS technicians use a patented process to individually apply semi-permanent eyelash extensions to the clients’ natural lashes, replicating the curve and size of natural lashes. Lash extensions are vegan, made with synthetic fibers. Clients can select from a variety of styles, lengths and curls to create a one of a kind custom look. ALS also offers lash lifts, tints, and facial waxing.

ALS offers these services in professional enclosed esthetician quarters, providing an authentic spa experience.

Amazing Lash West Frisco is located at the southwest corner of Dallas North Tollway and Panther Creek Parkway at 5251 Panther Creek Parkway, Suite 600, Frisco. We are directly across from Fields West and caddy-corner to Universal Kids Resort.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Courage, resilience, resourcefulness, and patience are qualities that have been critical to my success.

Courage to do the thing that I’m not supposed to do as a minority single-mom. Courage to bet my life savings on me.

Resilience to hear day after day why others won’t bet on me with funding but wake up again the next day and do it all over. And continue to bet on myself.

Resourcefulness to consider every possible option, especially those not on the table. And reach out to my community in new and unthought-of ways.

Patience to know that what God has for me is for me, even if it takes 2 yrs instead of 6 months.
