Meet Crystal Barrett of Honeycomb Brow and Wax Artistry in Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Barrett.

Crystal, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I became a licensed Esthetician in 2010. My very first job as an Esthetician was at a Waxing Salon in Dallas, where I received an extensive and exclusive amount of training in full body and facial waxing. I gravitated towards waxing for three reasons – instant results, immediate confidence booster and the fast-paced yet chill environment. I do need to add something else, as it’s a big part of my story. My career came to a halt after about four years. I had found myself stuck in an addiction to drugs for many years and eventually, I hit my rock bottom after losing everything to my name. I sought help, joined a fellowship, and rode public transportation to and from everywhere I needed to be. As a result, I grew mentally, physically and spiritually. This eventually brought me to 2017, when I branched out on my own from another waxing salon and opened up my own business.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This is the honest truth. Since opening up my business, my road has been pretty smooth! Most things have aligned perfectly for me. Something that’s helped make it easier for me is social media. Us small businesses literally have free advertising at our fingertips through various social media platforms. How cool is that? Not to say that it’s not hard work having a business of your own, but to me it’s work I expect, which makes it easier. I’ve had some struggles along the way, but it wouldn’t be “normal” if I didn’t. I would say the road was a lot bumpier, becoming the woman and esthetician that I was meant to be prior to opening up my business.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Honeycomb Brow and Wax Artistry story. Tell us more about the business.
My business is Honecomb Brow and Wax Artistry. There’s more to this name than just the brows, so read on… I offer anything from brow services to Brazilian waxing. I also make all-natural beeswax sugar scrubs, lip balms and working on perfecting my candle skills! Wax girl 100% right here. I have always been incredibly creative with an artistic side. This is why I call eyebrows and waxing my art. My clients are my canvas. I enhance what they already have (brows) and/or I take away what bothers them (waxing). I’m primarily known for my work in brows. I offer your basic brow wax and shape, brow lamination (brow lift) and brow tinting. I feel what sets me apart is my more natural approach to the brow style and how comfortable I make my clients feel, that’s very important to me. I am most proud of where I’m at today and the relationships and trust I have built with my clients. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have Honeycomb Brow and Wax Artistry.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I honestly don’t believe in luck, but I believe in grace. So to go back on what I said earlier, the way that things aligned so perfect for me while setting up my business and throughout my time open thus far, I think that is grace, synchronicity or my “good luck”. 🙂 It’s just meant to be and for that, I am very grateful.
