Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Richardson.
Crystal, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello, my name is Crystal Richardson a.k.a. C Rich the standup comedian from Dallas, Texas. I have been doing standup for a little over two years now, and I kinda got started on the spot. Growing up, I was always very outspoken and loved making people laugh. It’s like something crazy would always happen to me and I always told a good playback story full of funny details. My friends would literally call me up when they were having a bad day and say, “I know you have a funny story to tell to make me laugh!” It’s just in my nature to try to find the funny in every situation that I’m in. Well, one summer, I had a terrible trip to Vegas with a guy, and the events was so unbelievable that when I came back to tell all of my friends the details, they all fell out laughing in disbelief. The story was so funny that they convinced me to tell it on stage while we were at a comedy show one night, and the crowd also died laughing! A guy came up to me afterwards and asked me to be on his comedy show in 2 weeks, and the rest is history! I’ve been doing comedy shows ever since!
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road, but it hasn’t been too bumpy either! I’ve had some really big opportunities to work with some of the greats in the comedy game very early in my comedy career in comparison to other comedians that’s been in the game way longer than me, so it’s been a blessing! One of the struggles I have dealt with is getting the big exposure I need to fully take off. In this game, you have to really grind & be ORIGINAL until the right person sees you to put you in the right position to win.

I am a lady of many hats! During the day, I am an insurance agent, adjuster, and tax preparer! However, my passion and end goal is to be a full-time comedian. My comedy is known for the relatability in dating “Clown A$$ men”, funny parenting, and the struggles of having big breast. I’m most proud of my adult comedy nursery rhyme book called “Tales from C Rich” that I wrote and published on my own. It’s a book of hilarious remakes of old classic nursery rhymes we all grew up to. My down-to-earth-cousin-homie vibe is what sets me apart from others because I literally do not meet any strangers; I love just about everyone!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My family and friends have been pushing me to do standup over the years; however, an old coworker that was a standup comedian, Jesus “Midnite” Castillo, gave me the confidence to really try it. I would have him cracking up at work all day, and one day he told me that I should try standup. I took him more seriously since he was a comedian because friends & family might think you’re funny, but stage funny is totally different! So, shoutout to Midnite! Another big helper is a standup comedian named Calimar White. Calimar helped me understand the comedy game in general how to get on big shows, and he helped me understand how to set up a premise in a joke. He has definitely put me ahead of the game by giving me great comedy advice over the years. Shoutout to Calimar!!!
