Today we’d like to introduce you to Dadra Bundick.
Dadra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was visiting an injured officer (friend) in Parkland Hospital a few years back. While I was there the founder of POAF, Maria Alverado also came to visit. After speaking with and visiting with them, I decided almost immediately that I wanted to volunteer. I began communicating with Maria and began helping with the non-profit every chance I got. it was rewarding for me to be able to help my fellow officers. We are a family, no matter where you are in Texas we are there to help. I know they would come to my aid if I ever need them.
Has it been a smooth road?
Every road has its bumps. I guess the biggest hurdle for people these days are not trusting non-profits. I guarantee every penny goes to our injured. I always encourage people to do their research on non-profits before giving.
We’d love to hear more about your organization.
POAF assists critically injured Peace officers financially and emotionally in the State of Texas. It is important we get the word out to all agencies who we are and what we do. I volunteer for fundraisers and set up tables at events. I am the most proud of the team that I am with! Each team member is so dedicated to this organization. What sets us apart, I believe, is being there for our injured. We check up on them, wait with their families during surgeries, and get to know them individually and their needs.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
We would love to branch out to Dallas and have another central location. The more people know about our mission the better.
