Today we’d like to introduce you to Dallas Clark.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Dallas. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up me and my bros would freestyle and write lyrics for fun. Whenever I got in trouble or something my mom would put me on punishment and make me read a book. With a combination of the two and my natural interest in music, writing lyrics and rhymes became a hobby.
After some rough years, music and my writing became an outlet; that evolved into a passion. At that point, I decided that music is what I want to do with my life. My struggles and experiences are what shapes my sound and concepts. While marching through my forest of struggles, I had to find a way to grow and develop as an artist, as well as discover the ins-and-outs of the music industry. Over the years, I studied hip hop and other genres of music until I understood what makes an artist special and how I can create a sound that represents me and my message. I’ve released a series of mixtapes and one official project blueprinting my growth and current mind-state. Now, I’m focusing on the business side and solidifying my artistry and brand in the industry.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The greatest struggle in the music industry is finances. It takes money to make money, and your music career goes as far as you are willing to invest. On top of fundraising, the music industry is full of cons and people trying to make a quick dollar. Those types of people turn the art and something precious into a tainted practice.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am artist/rapper from North (Nawf) Dallas, TX. YDLC consist of music engineers, beat makers, and producers. We are proud and passionate about the music. We are different because what we do drives our existence. Music is life for us.
What were you like growing up?
I was always the one cracking jokes. Known for a bit of quick temper but I just dont like BS and don’t tolerate disrespect. I was sensible out of my circle and always had a way with words.
